Deleted a comment from user Marvin in the gun thread. Didn't get political but felt politically motivated and was extremely dickish besides. Longtime, established user dropped back to 1793 points as a warning.
Overall pretty impressed with the users in this thread. Totally expected it to become a shit show, but people stayed on topic or stayed away.

This is why I recommend NEVER posting from a political site. This was an opinion from doctors in a small-time medical journal, not a study, and their conclusion was to get rid of gender separation in sports. The OP represented it as a study, and piled on with "Powerfully" in the title.
As expected, Immediately became a one-sided political shit show, with a few truly vile transphobes who started accounts tonight to egg it on. Not worth cleaning up. Banning the worst offenders. OP loses posting priveleges.

Looks like someone got to it. Long story short is we've been under assault lately from some Trumpian online group. Most of it's this kind of trolling; they've also been spamming my work email address. It seems their primary goal is to fire up other conservatives on the board to get them to cross the line, get kicked off, then feel like they're being victimized for their politics, and maybe get some liberals to do the same. Nothing has been a major threat yet and we're usually able to catch the activity within a few hours.

Listen, this is a fully emotional intelligent disclaimer on my part... my posts don't always meet board standards and I've been known to use salty language directly at someone (partially because I hate stupid people and have no patience for them but I digress).
I'm also of the opinion that free speech means sometimes someone will get offended and they need to get over it -- so I've never made a mod post before.

I've been to Dachau and Treblinka and saw the cruelty of nazi concentration/labor camps.
There is no reason for this poster to bring this clearly political comment to the board.

Took down the thread. The first sentence was enough to violate 'no politics'. You're doing the same by trying to argue the definition of a concentration camp here. If you'd like to email me to chat about it, this is an issue I'm pretty well versed in--studied it at Michigan, it's the history of my family, and I serve on the board of the organization that speaks for Jews of Metropolitan Detroit, where we've recently had experts come to speak on the nuances of this exact argument.

Short version is the AJC is against interring civilians in camps against their will and without a trial, whatever you call the camps. Personally, I think that the word is being used correctly in a technical sense, but that the connotation is there intentionally, and that's not a good look. Like with the Harbaugh thing last month: heart's in the right place, idea's something worth being voiced, but we also know what you're trying to infer even though you're not inferring it, and stop it.
