Why are you even watching that game in the first place. You realize Washington vs Oregon is on right now right?

Hell of an ending, but Washington should have had the lead after that previous drive deep into Oregon territory. The ball inside the one, and they don't score. I mean, can you imagine being that close, and not being able to punch it in? What kind of a team can't gain two feet at a pivotal moment of such a big game?
Oh. Right. Never mind.
October 14th, 2023 at 7:42 PM ^
And that game met every bit of the hype.
October 14th, 2023 at 10:54 PM ^
That game was insane. So much fun.
My niece is a junior at UW and she texted me starting at like 5:30am PT to let me know she's at Gameday, she's in the pit, the game is starting. Didn't hear from her again until well after the game. she rushed the field, but got out of there pretty quick.
What a fun game, and although I hate to see nd win, it was also nice to see usc and lincoln riley get stomped. Still no defense and their offense got their butts kicked playing an actual defense. Pretty sure USC gave up sometime during the 3rd quarter.

I was out scouting future BIG teams.
It was a good one.
October 14th, 2023 at 7:45 PM ^
I had to put the Iowa Wisconsin game on my laptop while I watched Oregon Washington just to remind myself what defense is and kind of balance things out.

Im so glad those two schools are coming to the BIG. Great game and was fun to watch. UW looks like an awesome campus.
October 15th, 2023 at 8:12 AM ^
My daughter went to UW. The campus is stunning.
October 15th, 2023 at 9:26 AM ^
Watched a condensed game. I get UW wants to eventually become more Air-Raid, but why they threw 50 times and only gave Allen 18 carries is pretty curious. I get the RR insistence on transitioning to the spread, results be damned, because that was a 3-9 team. UW was on the verge of essentially locking up the B1G West.

No one cares
October 14th, 2023 at 9:06 PM ^
They don't play anyone or their defense wouldn't look anything like it does. If they played in the PAC12, they'd be Utah with a way shittier offense.

October Maryland is here.

I'm really looking forward to playing the Hawkeyes in Indy.
And on a different point, looks like October Terrapins are here, right on schedule.
October 14th, 2023 at 11:09 PM ^
Crazy that they could now be the odds on favorite to win the west.
And they won, but I cannot wait for this week's installment of Iowatch.
They basically have to average 31 ppg the rest of the way to get to 300 points in the regular season. The only time they achieved this total all season is the 41-10 win against WMU.
And I'm watching BTN final drive and they're talking about how great the punter did - completely unironically, lol
October 15th, 2023 at 5:51 AM ^
The dude should be on the Heisman watch list. He had over 500 yards on 10 punts. A well deserved ice bath for that leg after the game.

What is with this board's obsession with Iowa?
October 14th, 2023 at 7:20 PM ^
A lot of us are really, really old, and remember Bump as Iowa's AD, and various Hawkeye squads being more spoilers to us than the Spoilermakers ever were.
I even remember when the Iowa Highlanders all-coed bagpipe band performed at Michigan Stadium...back before women were allowed through the front door of the Michigan Union.
October 14th, 2023 at 7:48 PM ^
You mean like that time Chuck Long and Hayden Frye f'd our national title aspirations in 1985?
Nope, I'm not bitter about that.
Not bitter at all.
October 14th, 2023 at 7:53 PM ^
That was just one of them. But, yeah, that one really, really hurt.
October 14th, 2023 at 8:58 PM ^
Iowa nearly f'd our season in 1997 also.
October 15th, 2023 at 6:39 AM ^
Damn Tim Dwight.
October 14th, 2023 at 9:47 PM ^
To this day, I don't think I've ever been angrier after a Michigan loss than that game.
October 14th, 2023 at 11:47 PM ^
Back then I lived in Iowa. I got a lot of grief after that one.
I was a freshman when M beat them at home the following year with a last-second FG and rushed the field, so that seemed to right the world for me at the time.
October 15th, 2023 at 7:40 AM ^
It wasn’t Chuck Long or Hayden Fry. It was Larry Station. Single-handedly took the game over. I felt so bad that his back injury kept him from being the dominant force in the pros that he’d been in college.
October 14th, 2023 at 7:56 PM ^
Bump did vote to send us to the Rose Bowl after we tied Ohio in 1973. Crazy Legs Hirsch (who played for Michigan) voted to send Ohio. I have no love lost for Bucky.
October 14th, 2023 at 8:20 PM ^
I don't think Bump gets enough recognition here. Notwithstanding "Because I couldn't go for 3" fiasco, the '68 team was really good and was the foundation of Bo's first few years. And he was one play short vs Bob Griese's Purdue off a national championship in '64.
October 14th, 2023 at 8:31 PM ^
Yes and no. In ten seasons, he had a winning record in only five years.
That said, as you pointed out the 1964 was really good, and the 1968 team laid the foundation for the Bo era.
October 14th, 2023 at 8:52 PM ^
One other thing...I remember the Bump & Duffy Show. Yeah, I know that Bo ended it, but can you have imagined the Lloyd & Mork Show? The Jim & Tuck Show? Other iterations? The mind boggles.
October 14th, 2023 at 9:36 PM ^
I remember the Bump & Duffy Show.
I had no idea that was a thing. The thought of any Michigan coach doing a show with Mark Dantonio is both as funny as hell and frightening.
October 14th, 2023 at 10:01 PM ^
Yeah. Try to imagine Groucho Mark having to sit next to Lloyd in a TV studio for interviews and a recap after the "Little Brother" game !
October 15th, 2023 at 9:39 AM ^
If Brady Hoke had coached here for ten seasons, I think his career would have been similar to Bump’s—5 bad to really bad seasons, three mediocre seasons, one pretty good season, and one excellent season.
October 14th, 2023 at 7:25 PM ^
If you go to reddits cfb board, you'll see Iowa is a national phenomenon.

It's a slow motion car crash. A very slow motion crash.

Well right now it’s our likely match up in the Big Ten Championship game.
October 14th, 2023 at 7:44 PM ^
They're everyone's second favorite big ten team
October 14th, 2023 at 7:48 PM ^
Even Iowa fans had to pick a different first team to root for.
October 14th, 2023 at 7:44 PM ^
They had 9 first downs and 37 yards passing and they won by 9, putting them in the driver’s seat for the west division. It’s bizarre and fascinating. It’s a tire fire and a traffic accident and a circus freak show all rolled into one.
