Game Thread: Rutgers @ Michigan 7 pm BTN

How much does Dickinson need to get hammered before the bald fuck blows his useless whistle?
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:45 PM ^
Dickinson gets called for going straight up and not making contact. 3 Rutgers players foul him 2 times each and the ref refuses to call anything until he is forced to.
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:45 PM ^
A lot more guys creating shots for themselves tonight
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:45 PM ^
Well, the team looks well coached tonight, I gotta say.
The rotations look tighter but that's probably because Diabate and TW are out, but still.
Still too many TO's , I wonder why?
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:45 PM ^
Will this be a Q1 win?
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:45 PM ^
Clearly the NCAA was wrong when they thought they suspended our head coach.
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:47 PM ^
@Jibbroni: No.
According to Alex Drain yesterday on his front page 'Bracketology' piece, Rutgers @Michigan is a quadrant 3 game for us.
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:47 PM ^
I think it is Quad 2 because we are at home. Rutger has some bad L's to go along with some major upsets.
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:47 PM ^
Useless reach. Just move your feet, son.
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:48 PM ^
Love seeing the effort from the guys despite the last game drama. Everyone will have to shut up if we win.
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:48 PM ^
How’s Martellis pimp hand?
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:48 PM ^
Rutgers NET ranking is currently at 80, so no this is not a Q1 win.
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:48 PM ^
Q3. Ugggh
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:49 PM ^
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:50 PM ^
Headband is having a really bad game for Rutger tonight and he has been playing well as of late.
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:50 PM ^
Wow. Houstan from real deep.
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:50 PM ^
Nice game Houstan. That’s all you have to do is shoot the 3 confidently
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:50 PM ^
2 layups missed to seal it
Bucket here would've too.
Down to 9
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:51 PM ^
Ya dunk that, Hunter.
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:51 PM ^
If they just started playing sloppy, it’s my fault - just turned on the game.
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:52 PM ^
Edit: Yikes not even close with my assertion. Still HUGE!
Quad2 win, may end up Quad1.
This was fucking HUUUUUGE!!!
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:52 PM ^
Rutgers is such a weird team. Gio and Harper look like AAs sometimes and hopelessly awkward and ungainly at others. They've got a big man who flashes good skills and some decent role guys.
Jeckyl and Hyde.
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:53 PM ^
Martelli COTY?
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:53 PM ^
This one is for Juwan. Pump it up!!
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:53 PM ^
Huge win. Hopefully Moussa comes back ready to make up for the lost game
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:53 PM ^
I am happily wrong about the officiating to end the game. I thought it would be a foul fest
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:53 PM ^
Survive and Advance
GO BLUE!!!
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:53 PM ^
Pretty sure no teams calling a timeout against Michigan again in the final minute of a blowout. (too soon?)
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:53 PM ^
Nice to get the win while starting slow and playing sloppy
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:54 PM ^
Fuck yes!!! Also were the refs trying to start a brawl??! On both teams no fouls called. Then other games they call flagrant on a sneeze.
Great win!!!
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:54 PM ^
Man I see why the kids and staff love Phil
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:55 PM ^
Martelli talking up Eisely and Washington. Telling America they're ready to be head coaches. Awesome by coach.
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:55 PM ^
Nice second half. Big win!
That's 8-3 in last 11, I believe.
Go Blue! Beat Illinois!
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:56 PM ^
The quadrant this win falls into is not very important imo. Rutgers will probably end up outside top 75 NET. However, this win gets the team 1 win away from .500 in B1G play; a .500 record + one win in the BTT will get them into the NCAAT.
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:56 PM ^
Martelli Muppets!!
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:56 PM ^
Great Win!
Go Gophers!
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:57 PM ^
Huge win, that sets the tone for the rest of the regular season. Win against the Illini this weekend and I think we are in the tournament.
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:57 PM ^
Martelli was a fantastic hire by Juwan. He is EXACTLY what was needed. Experience, savvy, class.
And huge props to Martelli for gracefully accepting a lesser role.
Class act all the way.
February 23rd, 2022 at 8:59 PM ^
Hook this BTN post-game to my veins. All positive Michigan talk is so refreshing after the last week.
February 23rd, 2022 at 9:01 PM ^
Class act by Martelli given credit to The assistant coaches for the win, calling them ready for head coaching jobs.
February 23rd, 2022 at 9:01 PM ^
Houston getting that early block might have been huge.
February 23rd, 2022 at 9:02 PM ^
Moved in a three way tie for sixth place with Iowa and Staee with what is probably the most difficult schedule of anyone in the league.
February 23rd, 2022 at 9:08 PM ^
A lot of folks have been down on Houstan and questioning Juwan for keeping him out there. I completely disagree.
This team can really struggle with outside shooting. The only way the team was going to get anywhere this year was for Houstan to start figuring it out - they just don't have any other real options.
He sure came through tonight - let's hope he can keep it going. If he's a legitimate scoring threat, this is a pretty dangerous team.
February 23rd, 2022 at 9:18 PM ^
Houstan, 45% three point shooter at home and 28% on the road. Glad we have four straight games at home, including this one.
February 23rd, 2022 at 9:38 PM ^
This was a great win, all things considered. Also, even though it's not Quad 1, it will still be looked at as a quality win, as Rutgers is likely to make the tournament. My guess is 2 more regular season wins gets us in. One more would make it really dicey, as no one has ever gotten an at-large being anything less than 2 over .500.
But it doesn't matter - this team is winning all the upcoming home games.
February 23rd, 2022 at 9:46 PM ^
Much needed quality conference win. Well done even short handed. Coach Martelli gives props to Assistant Coaches and players. Classy. Go Blue !
February 23rd, 2022 at 9:48 PM ^
I liked seeing Houstan at the 4 alongside Brooks, Jones, Hunter, and an improving Bufkin.
Also, Frankie Collins has to be one of the best pickup basketball players in the country. Man can he fly to the basket and make some tough shots at that rim.
February 23rd, 2022 at 9:58 PM ^
Go Go Gophers!
Minnesota trailing by just 2 at halftime vs Wisconsin.
February 23rd, 2022 at 10:02 PM ^
I haven't read the game column, just the comments in this thread. Guessing we lost by 50 since Jones sucks and Eli sucks and Houston sucks and the whole team sucks and has low basketball IQ?
Some of you need to get a grip.

Just finished the game on delay. Outstanding effort from start to finish. I loved the constant Martelli adulation from the announcers - while also still giving love and respect to J Howard. Martelli is such a generous human being. Hearing him give so much love to Eisley and Washington warms the heart. Best coach winning percentage in B1G history? That would be Phil Martelli, 100%
