Colin Cowherd and Joel Klatt have a great conversation about Harbaugh

The recounting of "Let's Go Zak!" and the crowd picking up the team was something I didn't know about and good to hear. It also helped put Blake scoring on the next play into some more context.
Edit: Here is a link to the podcast -- which has more description -- that Robbie Moore refers to below (where Joel Klatt talks about the stadium after Zak Zinter's injury: https://youtu.be/kYKnvx1quLc?si=D05IMAGuWx4-MyTi&t=1786
"Something happened that I've never experience before....I've tried to tell this story twice and I didn't get through it without crying." - Joel Klatt (on the podcast)
Edit 2: stephenrjking links to Cinematic Highlights (from the Big Ten). You can hear the crowd start to chat about 30 seconds after this link (4 minutes in)

Brian linked to a Klatt podcast at the end of his post game recap on Monday. When Klatt talked about the Zac injury and the crowds spontaneous chants you could hear the emotion in his voice. It wasn't a Michigan moment to him but rather a magnificent football moment. And a true hat tip to 110,000 fans.
November 29th, 2023 at 5:57 PM ^
From outside the stadium I likened the moment to Jason Avant's in 2003, but having heard from Klatt and others, I think I sold that moment much too short. It was much bigger than Avant's (still poignant) moment in 2003, and much more pivotal.

I was sitting midway up in Section 3 and the first thing I thought I heard break the silence when Zak was down on the field was a chant coming from the top of the stadium in the SE corner where a pocket of OSU fans were sitting. Sounded like they were chanting something for OSU. My initial thought was that it was bush-league for OSU fans to chant while Zak was still down, but it was immediately completely drowned out by the "lets go Zak" chant. Not 100% certain it was an OSU chant by OSU fans but it sure sounded like it. Did anyone else hear that?
November 29th, 2023 at 7:08 PM ^
I was up there in section 10. Just the usual smack talking, they weren't chanting or anything. But who am I kidding, I was so focused and in the moment that I probably wouldn't have heard them anyhow.
November 29th, 2023 at 5:28 PM ^
As someone who was there, all I can think of, and hope for, is.. a complete recovery for Zak.
Go Blue!
November 29th, 2023 at 5:30 PM ^
you can hear it in the cinematic recap
November 29th, 2023 at 5:34 PM ^
Do you have a link to that? Just not sure where the 'cinematic recap' is.
November 29th, 2023 at 5:50 PM ^
I think he means the BTN Journey. There's a link to it in one of the columns since the game, forget which one.
November 29th, 2023 at 5:59 PM ^
Here.
Barner dropping to the ground when he saw Zinter down was just crushing. Shows you what this meant to the guys on the field, what they mean to each other.

Thank you sirs!
+1's all around

Thanks for that link! What a great perspective not only of game but to hear crowd cheering let’s go Zak. Also liked the angle to show Roman Wilson’s TD.
November 29th, 2023 at 7:41 PM ^
Cried in front of my wife today watching those. I hope I never get old and jaded enough not to be emotional about Blake’s TD in that moment.
November 29th, 2023 at 4:56 PM ^
Anybody notice they pretty much said that sign gate is a witch hunt without saying it?
November 29th, 2023 at 4:57 PM ^
They both have kind of been saying that since it broke
November 29th, 2023 at 5:13 PM ^
This time it had a little bit more oomph to it. "Harbaugh is an agitator" "making people mad behind closed doors" "sniffing around" reminds of the food inspectors on Bob's Burgers
November 29th, 2023 at 5:39 PM ^
NCAA has been pissed with Harbaugh at least since the whole satellite camp thing.
November 29th, 2023 at 10:51 PM ^
They've been especially pissed since the whole hey maybe the NCAA should share revenue with its work force thing was supported by Harbaugh.
November 29th, 2023 at 6:24 PM ^
lulz the NCAA as Hugo and Ron. Hilarious analogy.
November 29th, 2023 at 5:26 PM ^
Klatt's first response when the story broke is that the accusations were "very serious." I always figured he'd end up walking that back at some point.
November 29th, 2023 at 6:36 PM ^
Klatt basically taking the MGo talking point of Harbaugh supporting paying players making him a target of the NCAA was something.
November 29th, 2023 at 5:05 PM ^
Iconoclasts need to be out front to get the slings and arrows. Who...are we... to judge?
November 29th, 2023 at 5:11 PM ^
What's most remarkable about this team is it's the most hated team in college football, yet it is filled with more leaders and selfless individuals than any team in the country.
November 29th, 2023 at 5:14 PM ^
Given current culture maybe that's why.
November 29th, 2023 at 5:49 PM ^
This is the country that made the ESPN manufactured rage bait model “The World Wide Leader”
so, yeah, that makes a lot of sense really
November 29th, 2023 at 5:15 PM ^
Let's go Zack!

"Let your actions speak so loudly I can't hear what you're saying." Ben Herbert

Interesting to hear such a prominent broadcaster (one of Fox's #1 crew for gamecalling) go after both the ncaa and cfp directly.
November 29th, 2023 at 5:46 PM ^
Much like Desmond told pete camel live on the air to wear his "big boy pants". 🖕🏽pete.
November 29th, 2023 at 6:30 PM ^
Here's how I assume this went down:
In a production meeting, Desmond learned what the plan was with Thamel and objected. Producers told Desmond to suck on it and like it. Desmond said, I'm going to talk about this on air. After they could not dissuade Desmond, they planned out how that was going to go, which is why Reece was so quick to insert his comment he practically was cutting off Desmond. Reece was so uncomfortable, couldn't even look Dez in the eye. It was wonderful.
November 29th, 2023 at 6:03 PM ^
Let's hope that one of Florida State or Texas win this weekend so we can keep OSU out of the playoff. I've gone through all the scenarios and those are the key games.
November 29th, 2023 at 6:07 PM ^
Most provocative thing I heard there was Cowherd's conviction that the B1G is going to be offering really compelling football starting next fall. And it got me to thinking that this year really might have been the capper to the MI-OSU rivalry as we know it, because we're going to have four more teams along with the end of those divisions.
November 29th, 2023 at 6:28 PM ^
Let's just say this was a huge win in many ways but one being, this may have been the last of this game meaning what it currently does.
November 29th, 2023 at 6:34 PM ^
No divisions, 12 team playoffs (and it will expand to 16 before long I'm sure). It will be impossible for a regular season game to have the same stakes again. And frankly, I can't stand how gross it's going to be to play them in back to back weeks when we have a year where the loser still makes the championship game.
November 29th, 2023 at 10:34 PM ^
If your assumption is right...I would hope at that point they just get rid of the conference championship games. No need at that point. Honestly, no need for the 12 team model.
November 29th, 2023 at 7:10 PM ^
That's correct. In the future, The Game will just be a game. Five buck says that it gets moved off the last Saturday in the next conference schedule scheme, to remove the chance that the two will play again the next Saturday.
College football as we knew it is dead, and it died choking on all the Big Money.
November 29th, 2023 at 7:15 PM ^
One thing I look forward to is these two teams not getting to build their entire roster/gameplan in response to one another. It will be nice to have other teams in the conference that demand an ability to play multiple styles, as opposed to the mediocrity across the league right now.
November 29th, 2023 at 8:07 PM ^
As frustrating as it can be sometimes to watch us slog through the conference schedule because we're just using it as a practice for The Game, I've actually enjoyed that part of the dynamic (especially the last three years, obviously). I would think the rest of the country and the conference especially would find it incredibly boring. So, objectively, the new Big Ten will be better.
The Big Ten West is 0-9, soon to be 0-10, in the conference championship game. Wisconsin, Iowa, and Nebraska really did not do their job.
November 29th, 2023 at 7:57 PM ^
Did some quick math and next year could see up to 4 B1G teams go undefeated in conference with some strange results. And the tie breakers are not yet known. Not very likely but kind of crazy since you’re only playing 9 of the 17 other teams
November 29th, 2023 at 7:48 PM ^
The Zak moment (chants, that is) was truly incredible and then Blake's scamper to the corner for a TD was idyllic.
The only thing missing was having Keith Jackson being alive and calling that TD run saying...it's a footrace to the corner, Touchdown, Blake Corum!!!!!
November 29th, 2023 at 8:29 PM ^
That moment when as something any of us there will never forget. Zak is a LEGEND. It was surreal. Klatt explained it very well for those who weren’t there. I’ll always remember that game and that moment and that team.
November 29th, 2023 at 8:55 PM ^
Around the 12-minute mark, Klatt says, "Jim Harbaugh has never lied to me."
He goes on to expound on how most coaches will lie when it serves them, but not Harbaugh. Love it!
November 29th, 2023 at 8:56 PM ^
"Jim Harbaugh has never lied to me."
Such a great track record to have. Harbaugh is one of the straightest, most honest people in sports. The notion that he would actively promote or approve cheating is absolutely ridiculous.
Could he be so hands-off that crap flies under his radar? Sure, I can see that happening. But I could never see him actually lying and cheating.

Fun listen. Thank you. Disagreed with a few bits, but pretty solid overall.
November 29th, 2023 at 11:28 PM ^
Klatt continues to grow on me….
but like him more as a podcaster / studio type more than I do as a game analyst.
November 29th, 2023 at 11:35 PM ^
Jim “disruptive” Harbaugh, I Love the label, so true.
November 30th, 2023 at 8:45 AM ^
Great segment..... I appreciate both of these guys even though Klatt annoyed the ever loving shit out of me announcing the game. First time ever I typically love Klatt. I can only wonder if that was a directive from the network itself to be pro once side. Their conversation about how Jim has caught the ire of powerful people they don't even know the name of couldn't be truer. This has nothing to do with signs or whatever it has to do with the flow of money and the way a bunch of old crusty dudes run something. I appreciated their take on the courage Jim has to influence change solid sound take and even these two have to tip toe because they may be employed ultimately by some of these people. Its encouraging to hear them at least understand what the actual problem is and mildly support Jim
