AP Pre-season All America Team; Moody 1st team selection
The AP has released their preseason All American team. Jake Moody was selected the 1st team Kicker. He's the only UM player to appear on either the 1st or 2nd team
Other than Moody, what UM player do you think most deserves a spot on this list? I'll predict that Erick All ends up 2nd team AA at the end of the year.

Not sure All will have enough stats with the amount of WR’s and Schoonmaker around to warrant AA status, but he’d get my vote.

Iowa with 2 first-team AA's on Defense? Well, that would certainly be a first.
August 22nd, 2022 at 3:49 PM ^
Not so sure about that. They've fielded some great college defenders all through Kirk's tenure.

For sure... Loved watching Adrian Clayborn back in the day. Guy was a beast.

Oluwatimi should've gotten serious consideration
August 22nd, 2022 at 12:23 PM ^
It makes no sense that he's not on there. He was the best center in CFB last year, will be playing with one of the best OL's in the country and he'll be opening holes for 2 extremely dynamic RB's.
August 22nd, 2022 at 12:45 PM ^
Second best center lol. Tyler Linderbaum from Iowa was Numero Uno. But I get your point
August 22nd, 2022 at 1:10 PM ^
You're correct...should say best RETURNING Center since Linderbaum is now in the NFL
August 22nd, 2022 at 12:45 PM ^
A finalist for the 2021 Rimington should have serious consideration this year?
Olusegun Oluwatimi, Virginia
Olusegun Oluwatimi started all 12 games for Virginia in 2021 and has started 32-straight dating back to the 2019 season. A Rimington Trophy watch lister for the second season in a row, Oluwatimi was also named a second-team All-ACC selection. According to Pro Football Focus, he is ranked second-highest among all FBS centers with a 90.2 run blocking grade and only allowed three sacks and five QB hits in 2021.
Logic, Reason and Accountability will have no place here!
August 22nd, 2022 at 12:49 PM ^
Dude was a Rimington Award finalist - ie: Top 3 - while playing for UVA. Friggen VIRGINIA!!!! If he could do that at UVA, on an OL that included him and a bunch of nobodies like me, for an offense as putrid as UVA runs, in the ACC, then he should do okay at Michigan.
How this guy is being so under-discussed is beyond me...
August 22nd, 2022 at 12:24 PM ^
How Paris Johnson and Dawand jones make all American teams is beyond me. That’s all hype machine BS. Zinter was better one handed last year and should take a spot from them. Blake will have a better season than Henderson.
August 22nd, 2022 at 12:51 PM ^
Hutch and O-JA-BO are no longer around to expose them...
August 22nd, 2022 at 1:51 PM ^
I don't think Corum will have a better year than Henderson. At least not statistically.
Corum is the #1 option for sure in Michigan's backfield, but Donovan Edwards is very likely going to be 1B to Corum's 1A. They're both going to get a lot of carries. Versus TreVeyon Henderson is the guy.
He'll get spelled in certain situations, probably come off the field in certain third down scenarios, but he's not sharing major snaps with anyone. Especially since OSU's third stringer is now out for the year. He'll also be the benefactor of "He's the best because he plays for OSU" bias.
Michigan will probably have a better overall ground game, certainly a deeper one. But Henderson will likely be considered the top back in the conference because he's not sharing time with anyone.
August 22nd, 2022 at 6:37 PM ^
You’re underselling Corum. Before getting injured last season his stats were among the best in the country. Henderson played 2nd fiddle to the passing game and didn’t play the better defenses in the B1G.

When we play together as a team, when the old season is over, you and I know it's gonna be Michigan again. Michigan.

I thought we all agreed to stop using Bo quotes?

Ok people lets all get into our bins. Denier or cancel culture. Choose quickly we aint got all day.

Erick All has the measurables and speed to be one of the best TEs and his frame feels like it translates to the NFL. I don't know enough about all of the TEs out there so tough to say for sure. But barring the dropsies or any injuries (knock on wood), it would be tough to leave him out of the conversation.
August 22nd, 2022 at 12:54 PM ^
It's Erick All and Georgia's depth chart, basically. I think the Iowa TE is a bit overrated but that's just me. All is top 3 in my opinion.

Jake. Moody.

Both OSU tackles being on the first and 2nd team boggles my mind
August 22nd, 2022 at 12:39 PM ^
Bold prediction: much maligned Junior Colson will lead the team in tackles and will be a post season All American
August 22nd, 2022 at 12:55 PM ^
Well deserved for Jake Moody.
Won't be surprised if we have a few All-BIG first teamers that could be All Americans next yearif they return. Still a pretty young team.
August 22nd, 2022 at 1:22 PM ^
How about some all B1G predictions?
1st team: Moody, All, Corum, Oluwatimi, DJ Turner
2nd/3rd Team: Mazi Smith, Junior Colson, Ronnie Bell, D. Edwards, Zinter, Keegan, W. Johnson, Robbins

Aint nobody ever won nothing for being pre-season anything.
August 22nd, 2022 at 1:25 PM ^
I noticed that after being preseason 1st team a year ago, I couldn’t seem to find Spencer Rattler anywhere this year…
August 22nd, 2022 at 1:09 PM ^
Brad Robbins
August 22nd, 2022 at 1:27 PM ^
He's still here? Awesome!
Moody deserves a lifetime achievement award.
August 22nd, 2022 at 1:29 PM ^
1. Mazi
2. Zinter
3. Bell

Other than the O line, it's possible that even a stellar year won't lead to lots of All America status
Because if it's a stellar year, that likely means the offense has so many weapons that none have gaudy individual numbers.
August 22nd, 2022 at 1:57 PM ^
Plus, Harbaugh doesn’t game plan around his stars, which doesn’t yield enough ink about them.
August 22nd, 2022 at 2:15 PM ^
The buckeyes would like to discuss 5 reasons why that may not be 100% true.
Subject: Hassan Haskins
August 22nd, 2022 at 1:48 PM ^
Wonder what ever happened to Xavier Worthy.... oh, 2nd Team AA.
Fortunately our WR room is stocked. Good on him though
August 22nd, 2022 at 1:55 PM ^
Michigan dropped the ball big time with him. If they didn't have as good a WR room right now as they do, it would be a real problem. But with as meaningful contributors as they have right now, its not really that devastating.
It sucks, for sure. But it won't hold the team back from its goals.
August 22nd, 2022 at 2:03 PM ^
Moody has to be the biggest no-brainer on that list. 1st team All American last year, Groza award winner, Big Ten Kicker of the year.
August 22nd, 2022 at 2:11 PM ^
I know coaches have a minimum effect on kickers/punters but Jays work with special teams has been fantastic. When you add in his work to recruit and build up the buckeye slayer, Haskins, you got to admit he has the midas touch. I think he might make a hell of a head coach someday,
August 22nd, 2022 at 3:12 PM ^
Many of the post-season AA awards will largely be fueled by team success and who isn't injured. If M beats OSU, there's a much better chance that the outstanding Wolverine in that game will get some consideration, especially if he's had a good season to that point. If Alabama wins out, many of their players will undoubtedly get the honors that have been bestowed pre-season. If not, expect awards to non-Tiders. A good season for Ronnie Bell will really help his chances. Same for Jake Moody, of course. But hope there are many more TDs than FGs!! Go Blue!
August 22nd, 2022 at 4:36 PM ^
Lots of disrespeck here for Michigan. You figure one of our O Lineman should've been selected (some Northwestern guy got picked after all), but I'd rather have the better overall unit than one star, a couple of decent ones, and a pair of scrubby linemen.
Some nice bulletin board material here at least for the coaching staff to use--you guys beat OSU, won the B1G, and the country thinks we're just a kicker and a bunch of schmucks...what are you going to do about that?
