Andrel Anthony Off to a Nice Start

By no means am I trying to be controversial, I just know that there’s a few guys on here like me who had high hopes for him and will still root for his success elsewhere given that he didn’t leave on bad terms.

He’s leading Oklahoma in receptions and yards, about 85/game, to go along with a TD. Most Oklahoma people think he’s their #1.

I still think in another time and place he could have blossomed here, but it’s hard to complain with what we have given how Roman and CJ are catching the ball. Seems like a good example of the transfer portal being a positive thing. Michigan doesn’t lose any sleep and the kid gets a chance to being a key contributor elsewhere.

Thanks for the update. My prediction was that he would be out leading receiver last year. Something just didn’t work out. But I certainly wish him all the best success and glad to see he’s doing well.

Bummed it didn't work out here but happy for him. It'd be tough for him to be more than the #4 guy at michigan this year. Maybe #3 if they put Wilson in the slot

Great post. I'm glad to see him lighting it up, the talent was always there. I wish we could've got him the ball more while he was here and that he would've done more with the opportunities he did get. Seriously though, there's no need to say "By no means am I trying to be controversial", I know how this board is, but there's nothing wrong with having an opinion that others don't agree with.

Would argue, up until OSU, so did just about everyone else. We have been a mostly mediocre, at best, passing offense. Not putting that blame entirely on Anthony.

The word on AA out of OU’s practices was that he was their most productive WR was in for a nice year. Good to see it coming to fruition.

Tried to tell this board that Drel is special. Harbaugh just wanted him to wait behind average guys like Cornelius, and he wasn't down with them messing up his future draft status like they did DPJ. And he's better than DPJ.

Love our team, but I also love the Anthony family, and don't blame them one bit. Like I told them last year, it's unfortunate that we don't "need" Drel right now. I thought when he was the only one who looked like he belonged on the field vs Georgia, that they'd wisen up on this freak athlete of a kid.

When there isn't an immediate need to develop someone or a facet of our team, it  generally gets ignored under Harbaugh. Until its too late, a la the TCU game, via the inability to adjust to a zone blocking scheme vs that 3-3-5, and not developing JJ as a passer the entire year.

Its also part of the reason he loses so many bowl games. The inability (or refusal) to prepare for the unseen. While our elite opponents do. Hopefully we dont go down that road 3 years in a row.

He'd better get Clemons involved stat, or we'll be reading about him down south somewhere tearing it up too. Another Lansing kid who isn't trying to wait until senior year to get the rock. He's also special and they're blowing it again on that front.
