Dusty May radio interview from today
Great interview from a local Florida radio station.
The dude is everywhere. It’s like he is in two places at once.
Same Victors Song
Just a droppin' down of endless threes
All we do
Mumble to the ground,
Is that the new Coach B?
Dusty & Wins
All we are is Dusty & Wins
Praying that Dusty is an incredible recruiter because we need it bad.
Only need every position on the roster, how bad could it be?

Once he gets the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and all backups figured out, we're going straight to the Final Four!
I'm counting on a year zero next year that will also feel much better than whatever this was.

It really can't get worse than this past year, so I think you're right.
My prediction: he'll be able to assemble a roster that is a few games better than this season yet feel light years better, an uptick in 2024-2025 where they're middle of the pack in the B1G and maybe on the NCAA bubble by the end of the year, then hopefully near the top of the B1G and safely into the NCAA tourney in 2026.
It has taken me time to realize that we just hit a home run with this hire. That realization is aging like a fine wine in my mind.
This was a really cool interview. Thanks to OP for sharing. Really cool that he took the time to meet with the local radio crew during a super chaotic/busy time in his life. You can tell how beloved he is by the way the host is speaking of him.
That’s what I appreciates about you.
Is the realization aging in your mind, or is the fine wine aging in your mind and thereby helping you to reach the appropriately lubricated realization?
Either way, I may have to decant some fine wine this evening.
It took me a very long time in my life to value loyalty and loving relationships over money. Dusty seems to have this figured out and seems similar in traits to JB.
Although we will assess at 3 years I am ready to allow 5 as we look up and see the Amaker years above us today,
His answer in reply to a question about his most cherished memory at FAU was pretty good. He talked about how the Final Four run was amazing and great but his most cherished memory was cutting down the nets on the home court after winning the conference championship there. Reason being is his family was there, his coach's families were there...it was at home and not on the road. He got to celebrate with all the folks who helped support the program. I dig it!
I loved how unrehearsed and authentic his responses to questions were, but especially that one.
Let's make sure everyone is at the Final Four so he can cherish the memory of cutting down national championship nets for Michigan.
That guy is the anti-Harbaugh as an interview. He gives straight answers.
I hope he’s a Harbaugh when it comes to winning championships.
What? Harbaugh gives genuine, authentic straight answers. There are some fairly obvious reasons why a lot of people don’t get what he means, and that’s ok - everyone has their own understanding journey. But to imply that Harbaugh doesn’t give straight answers is outlandish.
Oh come on. Harbs would often mess with reporters and give vague and roundabout answers, or just simply refuse to answer at all and ditch the interview to have a player talk.

I like to think he got Jenny Taft to start wearing cleats to Michigan games because she kept having to chase him down.
Poor Jenny... She never got more than three words out of him. He made it a big joke to avoid her at all costs! I swear he game planned all week with staff about how to avoid her.
Harbaugh would answer real.questions, and he would toy with reporters who brought BS questions that most coaches have canned answers for. I miss him already.
Portal watch: Meechie Johnson, formerly of Ohio State, most recently South Carolina.
Also Jamal Mashburn Jr out of New Mexico.
Coach watch: JMU guy to Vandy, Utah State guy to Washington.
I’ve watched a lot of Mash Jr. He’s a super streaky shooter with a good pull up 2pt J. I don’t know his stats but he wasn’t great at hitting 3s. He always struck me as a bit of a chucker.

Just a link for anyone who doesn't want to start at 569 seconds into the interview...
oops! Thank you.
I didn't notice it just took the time I was at when I copied the URL while posting it.
Easy enough to do! I'd rather youtube only do that if you explicitly use the "Share" option with the option "Start at..." enabled, but alas.

Enjoyed the interview. Seems like a good guy.... in listening to the interview, as others mentioned, the Eastern Michigan connection is overlooked.
Similar to Kalen DeBoer, being in the shadow of the University of Michigan leaves an indeliable mark on up and coming coaches. Even though Dusty May is an Indiana kid, it is clear he has B1G basketball coursing through his veins....
My impression is that he skews more toward Beilein; a guy who develops kids based on fundamentals and coaching systems and keeps them around for a few years.
I am hopeful for the future.

Yeah, I'm loving this hire. The more I read, the better he seems, and the NW loss becomes that much more irrelevant.

That game was a classic "shit happens" kind of thing. FAU couldn't shoot straight (5-27 from downtown) but still was on the verge of sealing the game at the end of regulation, only to miss the front end of a 1-and-1 when they were up two points. NW then tied the game and in OT, FAU ran out of gas.
May's coached six NCAA tournament games. He's won four, lost one in OT and the other by one point. Not too shabby.
No mention of subs? consider me underwhelmed.
