Sorry but the -2 yard return…

Sorry but the -2 yard return for Barrett is incorrect... along with Henning's yardage.  The MD statistician does not know the rules.

If the kick returner does not make any attempt to advance the ball and laterals or hands off to another player then he is not charged with a return.  Here is the full ruling:

Article 4. On a multiplayer kick return exchange when there is no attempt by the first player (or the second if more than two are involved) to advance the kick (even though there may be an advance in order to effect a handoff or a lateral), credit the last player handling the ball with the return and yardage, unless the return results in a loss of yardage (see Articles 5 and 6). Compute his yardage from the point where the receiving team first gained possession.

Author Note:  MD has gone back into the game and fixed this error...  along with several others.  Henning now has a 79 yard KO return.  (Only the home team is allowed to change the stats for a game.)

Yikes…my 86 year old aunt said she saw this same concert at Foxboro (now Gillette Stadium) and it was the best concert she ever saw…

I briefly read through the responses so this may have already been listed... just look at the CBS sports channel listings for the middle of the night... it should list the game as a replay... it won't tell you what teams but it does have the full game minus half time... I just watched the UM/FSU game... they had our game and the UCLA/Bama game on replay last night...

Thank you...my feelings…

Thank you...my feelings exactly...I still bristle when I think of that whiny little ______ complaining after their game that they should be #1 in the country too because they were undefeated and it was Osborne's last game...grrrr....

Good one...

Good one...

And if you continued to…

And if you continued to watch the ESPN show you saw “homer” Galloway put Texas ahead of MIchigan in his poll because he knows TX lost to MD but that was early in the year...hey SFB you mean that game that TX lost at home to an unranked MD team...way more impressive then MI’s lost on the road at night to a higher ranked opponent...am I right? Since when do idle teams leapfrog over teams that beat their ranked rival on the road?

Not just in Boston This is common throughout New England...definitely see it on the Cape and in the little RI towns where my family lives...
Almost but not quite...

we are flying back through Minn. and after M won the hockey game my spouse suggested we change our tix to stay longer in Minn...I told him I couldn't deal with all that extra time in cold, dreary Minn with Buckeye and Domer fans no thanks...

But we are arriving in Dallas (airport) on Fri around 2PM and if anyone needs a ride from there to San Antonio let me know...we can take 2 maybe 3...

Go Blue!

I'm only 5 foot 2...

For me it was standing next to Rony Seikaly in the tunnel at Crisler who at the time was supposedly the first seven footer...and...the final four in New Orleans...we had pretty good seats...sitting in front of me was Kareem Abdul Jabbar...luckily for me that wasns't his seat he was just visiting with someone...

Seikaly was 7 feet tall not Crisler..poor phrasing...sorry...

Don't remind me...

I was there...took my father, brother and younger cousin to the game...it was in Providence...we were sitting next to the band...we all had headaches after the game...that would not have been so bad if we had won...was also at the BB games in MN (lost to Duke) and in New Orleans (lost to NC)...UGH...

Yo tambien...

with sprinkles...

                                VAMOS AZUL!

You Go Guy... The top picture reminds me of this https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfWudrsEOC4
Thanks...

Wish I could upvote you...yours is the first comment that made me crack a smile...

Equally ignorant midwesterners... Shortly after moving to Michigan I attended a party at a lake...and some bright bulb said to me "so Massachusetts, is that near any water?"
Yum... Our sandwich of choice unless we really wanted to get fancy and then it was a slice of bread with butter and strawberry jam and a second slice with peanut butter and fluff...slap them together and it is a child's version of the club sandwich...
JEJ

I've always thought it would be great to have JEJ say "May the force be with you" because... hey... Darth Vader went to Michigan...(or at least his voice did)...

MMB video

Have to tell you...I was at the Citrus Bowl and before the Florida band came out their hype video played on the big screen...and I thought "hey...how come our band didn't get to play their video before their entrance?' ...also I must say the Michigan video is better...but...WE WON THE GAME!

I think he said Dwayne Johnson...

at least it was closer than Jerry O'Neill...

excerpts from Maize and Blue Memories: Top 10 Madej Moments

Nov. 27, 2013

At the Michigan vs. Ohio State football game on Saturday (Nov. 30), the U-M Athletic Department will honor three individuals who are retiring after building iconic careers with the Maize and Blue: Jon FalkBruce Madej and Frank Beckmann.

MGoBlue.com will recognize each of these men in the days leading up the "Big Game," starting with Madej's top personal moments of his career.

 4
Charles Woodson winning the Heisman Trophy has to be one of the most exciting days of my career. Peyton Manning was "supposed" to win it, and when they announced Woodson it was special. The entire Manning family and UT entourage walked out of the New York Downtown Athletic Club with a look of absolute disbelief; it was a moment I will never forget.

Stay warm...

Are your seats near enough to an exit...going up and down lots of stairs can be a problem...especially if he needs to visit the restroom...

Dress warmly...it's the end of November...bring a seat cushion and paper to put feet on so they are not on the cold cement...bring a blanket for his lap...hat, gloves, scarf...

People may be standing for the whole game...they did for the state game...so he may not see much of the game...I speak from experience...I end up watching most of it on the screens!

There was an 86 year old woman sitting in my row a few weeks ago...she did fine...her daughter did accompany her up and down the stairs (row 25)...she was pretty mobile...

It will take a while to get out at the end of the game if your seats are down low...

You should call to see if you can park somewhere close to the stadium...they do have carts to take people from the nearby lots to the gates...

Good luck...and wishing you both a great day...Go Blue!

Not the first The athletic dept sent one out last year too...but it ended with DB wishing everyone a happy holiday blah blah blah...I felt like it was made to showcase him rather than the athletes...I like this one much better...
ND fans

I grew up in New England (the hot bed of college football!!!)...not Irish, but as a Catholic ND was our team. My spouse is an alum (UM) and so i switched my allegiance. It took a while, but  I managed to convert my dad and brother (both of whom still lived in NE).

it's everywhere, it's everywhere!

Not only have I have seen it all over the country...but I have taken pictures of people that I have come across in my travels (all over the world) sporting M gear. I remember being in the airport in Caracas, Venezuela during the Fab Five era and they were selling M shirts and ball caps - they had a nice display at the front of the shop.

Way way back...

When I use to climb (close to 30 yrs ago)...Grand Ledge was the convenient place to go. At the time I belonged to a club in Southfield that had an active climbing group and we would go to Rattlesnake (this side of Toronto) for the weekend and camp (once a month June to Sept). I did not see the Gunks in New Palz, NY mentioned in any of the responses. I have not been but other members did go there and to WI.

Yes...

I have started reading them again (slowly) and hope that by the time I finish book 6 will be released...it is also helping to refresh my memory as I find myself saying "I don't remember that being in the book" and it turns out it was!

why in a football stadium...

Someone pointed out to me that the FF is in CB Stadium next year. That venue is usually given a regional the year before (if it is their 1st time hosting) so that they can have a run through before their big event. But yeah I agree...I hate these venues for BBall.

you suck!

Arggghhhh! My sister in law pisses and moans every time this happens if we are behind at the time. I am tired of hearing "how can they say you suck when we're losing? We suck. I can't believe how stupid this is" and yadda yadda yadda...Enough already...I get it...and a lot of us probably agree...she is preaching to the choir...try changing the students' view instead.

Thank you Bill Martin

I am soooo tired of people criticizing Bill Martin as if he did absolutley nothing for the university. You do realize that the athletic department was in the _ _ _ _ can financially before he took over and so where all of their facilities which was a hindrance when it came to competing for top recruits.

1. 2001-2006 Renovation of Yost that added 300 club level seats among other things.

2. added women's water polo (you know...the team that the gold medal winning goalie at this summer's olympics came from) and men's soccer.

3. secured a million dollar radio contract.

4. donated his pay to the athletic department to offset costs.

5. hired Rich Maloney (and the baseball team did great in regards to championships and post season appearances) and Mike Bowan (who brought along Michael Phelps and a lot of publicity for the U).

6. renovated Alumni Field and Fisher Stadium

7. began the renovation project of Michigan Stadium (new press box, luxury boxes, etc.)

8. building of new football practice facility was approved

9. signed new contract with Adidas...making $3.5 million more annually than Nike contract.

10. raised funds to construct the basketball practice facility

11. construction of new soccer stadium approved.

12. during his tenure Michigan teams won 72 conference, regular season or tournament championships, had 35 top five finishes and won two national championships.

13. Big Chill...yes I know Brandon was AD at the time but it didn't start with him.

So yes, he also brought us Rich Rod (and a lot of people thought that was a great hire at the time) but Bill is a businessman and he came in when the program was running a significant deficit and left it with a surplus.

and the Les Miles debacle...you can thank Les himself for that one.

Too funny

Thanks for a great laugh...quick mind.

Whoops...this was in response to jcgold's comment

Coach Hoke

Two things I would like to share with you...

1. A few months after coach Hoke was hired I attended a function and he was in attendance. I happened to be standing by myself in the "pre dinner gathering area" and he walked up to me, shook my hand and said Hi, I'm Brady Hoke. I said, I know and introduced my self and then my spouse came over and bailed me out (because I was somewhat awe struck).

2. This is a second hand story, one that my spouse told me. We were at a noon skate session at Yost. One of the regulars is a retired barber who cut Bo's hair. One day Bo was sitting in the chair and said (and I am probably not getting the words spot on but the meaning is the same) ...There goes a hell of a coach...and the barber looked out the window and it was Brady Hoke.

NBC vs NPR

Well it may have been on NPR but unless I am mistaken...there is no visual to NPR...this piece showed the gym, interviewed the coach and her father (sound and pictures)...had scenes from depressed neighborhoods in Flint...

Flint Female Boxer

If I am not mistaken the network did one of their "fluff' pieces on this woman. They talked about how her father is always in and out of jail. How she went to the gym and told them she wanted to box. They were skeptical but in no time she was better than some of their male boxers. How she found out just before a big fight that her father was back in prison. That might have been Nationals because they mentioned how afterwards she called her father and told him she was the champ. Very touching story...glad to see her doing well.

Thanks...

I was coming at it from the backend...if you know what I mean.

As the number two seed.. Why are we playing the winner of the 7-10 game and not the 6-11?
OHOWIHATEOHIOSTATE!

As much as I dislike loosing to them in FB...we play that game every year and in the future may actually play them twice in the same season...and, FB players have four years to secure 1 to 4+ wins. I know, it hasn't been easy over the last few years but we are all hokeful that THAT is about to change.

A basketball championship is a much more difficult goal to attain...(just ask MSU...they have made it to several final fours in the last few years and come away without the big prize).

Also...you can look at it this way...it seems a bit selfish to choose the FB win over the opportunity for the BB team to hang a banner from the rafters. Not many people remember specific wins against Ohio unless they are the '69 game or the year we foil their perfect season and they don't get to go to the MNC. EVERYONE remembers Final Four champs.

Thanks...

I think...

Glen Rice 1989

I do believe he also used this phrase in their (UM) run to the National Championship.

Couldn't help but notice...

that all of the respondents at @1AM are 24ish years old...and the ones at the crack of dawn are 60ish.

Charlie Pierce...

wrote a book titled "Moving the Chains: Tom Brady and the Pursuit of Everything" (2006). I read it back when it first came out and I do believe this subject was covered. Of course it examined Brady and didn't really get into much detail about Henson (comment about his father telling Carr he couldn't sign a QB in the class ahead of him).

Thanks Verbal!
