Without Felton Davis to save…

Without Felton Davis to save their hide too.

We ALREADY have the 90's…

We ALREADY have the 90's back.

7-1...

Lloyd's average win-loss record was 9-3 (technically 122-40 over 13 years).  Outside of 1997, Harbaugh has picked up right where Lloyd left off.  But now that we have competent quarterback and Oline play (and the defense never seems to regress), more championship runs look doable.

Or more screens?  The one…

Or more screens?  The one they ran to the tight end worked brilliantly, so if you want to play on some hyper-aggressive linebackers, that would seem to be a decent idea.

To be fair, it felt like it…

To be fair, it felt like it ALWAYS goes this way against Sparty: we do enough to win but get sunk by ridiculous bad luck.  With the rain coming down and two bad fumbles in the second half, you didn't flash back to last year at all?  Even just a little?

Honest question: Does Sparty…

Honest question: Does Sparty do this before every game?  If so, shouldn't our guys realize it and move?

Don't get me wrong: MSU plays as dirty as three-week-old underwear.  But if this is tradition, then maybe we should wise up.  Of course, maybe Mork should have gotten staffers to get the Michigan players off the field instead of walking behind them, smiling.

Not quite tears, but my face…

Not quite tears, but my face hurts from laughing.  BiSB, you are incredibly talented at writing about football.

I grew up going to Knoxville…

I grew up going to Knoxville every fall Saturday but saw the (northern?) light when choosing a college, and the analogies between the programs have been striking.

Since national titles a year apart (1997 and 1998), both programs began to have hiccups in the oughts that pressaged a changing of the guard. Two successful coaches (Fulmer and Lloyd) were run out of town, both for losing games they shouldn't have.

And then both opted for a culture shock (Kiffin and RichRod). Both programs hired nice guys in over their heads (Hoke for Michigan and Dooley for Tennessee), and both programs hired terrible offensive coordinators (Borges and Nuss under Hoke, and Mike Debord under Butch Jones).  And both are the only two power five teams to have had Brady Hoke be the head coach of both.

The only way to end the story the same would be for Peyton Manning to be hired as head coach in a few years.  We'll see.

I love that I always know that Brian will help me process the emotions of a frustrating game - on a holiday, mind you - for free.  It's like having a snarky psychiatrist. Sure, you can expect some barbs, but it's so much better than not having one.

Carris, I don't understand how you get from "wow, that game sucked" to "let's rip on the creator of this blog and one of the best college football writers on the planet." Of course he has an economic incentive to keep writing, but pointing that out is not helpful, and when you air quote the "whatever" it makes it seem like you don't appreciate the work that Brian, Ace, et al put in.
