I've said this elsewhere but I really think Bronco Mendenhall deserves a look. In fact, according to Vegas, he's the favorite (+300) to land the job should Harbaugh retire.
He's built that Virginia program from nothing to something. Their defense is astounding for the talent that they have and I expect them to continue to get better if he ends up staying there.
As others have noted, it is quite pessimistic, but given out current level of play it makes sense that your model predicted such a terrible outcome on the season.
That being said, I could certainly see that Rutgers score being the case. Through the rest of the season, I don't see us losing to the Illini or Maryland, but Iowa, PSU, ND, MSU, Indiana, and Ohio State will all be very difficult games for us if the current trend is continued. That's just stating the obvious.
To be the optimist, I think we can go on to win 8-9 games this season. That seems to be the comfortable ceiling with this team. If we're looking at it through a pessimist's lens - things don't improve - we're looking at a 6 win season.
Doubt we’ll see much change. We’ve been hoping for a new look or something different from this offense since week 1.
How are we going to do the rest of the season? Lol, if we keep it up like this....losses to Iowa, Notre Dame, Penn State, OSU are probably guaranteed. Wouldn’t be surprised if the Indiana game is really close.
I doubt we’ll see a 2016 Penn State turnaround but lord I hope we do. In the event we don’t, OSU is going to flat out destroy us worse than Wisconsin just did. 55-17.
There needs to be an attitude change. Maybe Harbaugh should take a page out of the old Huskers book and toughen this team up.
Look, I think Harbaugh is a great man and all. He's intelligent and it seems like he really cares about the players and their academic success just as much as their success on the field.
The passion just isn't there. Everyone looked flat - the sideline was dead. It was disheartening to see.
Promised a strong offensive line: QBs hit every other play
Told we have a QB that can make clutch plays and big throws: misses open reads, overthrows receivers downfield, fumbles every game
The vaunted Don Brown defense: D-line dominated, secondary looked lost, players are not staying on assignments during the run.
Wisconsin flat out imposed their will on us today. The team looks uninspired - lack of fire, leadership, and overall passion for the game. I don't know all the answers, but something needs to happen. Fire somebody, bench someone else - something needs to change.
