Twenty years ago I did and said things that in today’s society would be at the very least considered harassment and intimidation. Howard’s behavior just isn’t acceptable in today’s world. The university will not allow it. To further complicate the issue players were involved. Suspensions and most likely Howard is gone.

Money for Nothing: How…

Money for Nothing: How Michigan squandered the wealth of several third world countries.

Jack Daniels and a couple…

Jack Daniels and a couple Great Lakes Christmas Ales. My wife just had rotator cuff surgery that was proceeded by kidney cancer. I am watching Die Hard as she is resting and hoping for a better year in 2020.

Speed. Watch the last…

Speed. Watch the last several years of the OSU game and you will see receivers and running backs with elite speed. Josh Metellus made the comment that Michigan was fast and compared to other teams that statement is somewhat accurate. However, compared to OSU they run around Michigan. Metellus runs a 4.5 , Paris Campbell runs a 4.31, that difference was huge. And this year Dobbins has a time of 4.4.. I ran track and thought I was fast until I all I saw was the back of the elite runners ahead of me. They were .2 second ahead of me and that difference convinced me that running the 400 was a better option. You can teach and coach many things but, speed isn't one of them.

Accurate, shows his staff…

Accurate, shows his staff has done research on Michigan to a very detailed degree. We can bitch and moan all we want, but the records of won and loss are what they are.

I was in a sales meeting and as anyone in sales knows the competition is always a topic that comes up. Numbers don't lie and results matter. During this particular meeting our sales manager(a former college cheerleader) was demanding to know why we weren't able to sell a specific product. A senior rep finally had enough and told him that the competition had developed a superior product with better pricing. The sales manager lost it and said we weren't trying and we needed to sell the difference. Silence ensued and the meeting came to a conclusion. As we walked out of the room another rep leaned over to me as said, " No matter hard hard you cheer, sometimes the other team is just better"

I feel that's just the way the program is now, OSU is just better. Will it be this way forever? No, but if Harbaugh doesn't change things in a couple years, then 10 wins will probably be the norm.

Chicken blood.. I think that…

Chicken blood.. I think that I have discovered the problem . From an un-named source Coach Harbaugh attended a seance during the trip to South Africa. What he thought was a harmless outing to a tourist attraction, was actually a trap set by OSU and MSU alums. Harbaugh has actually been possessed by the spirit of Bo. Hence, the conservative 70s style play calling and eccentric behavior. The only thing that will fix this is a exorcism by the Long Island Medium.

I did at first, but I don't…

I did at first, but I don't believe in my heart he will deliver. In all the years of watching Michigan football, I have never seen a coach brought in to any program with expectations as high as they were for Harbaugh. He was a major part of the hype and as fans we all bought in with the exuberence that is normally reserved for a televangelist.

How can we forget , "Who's got it better than us ??? Nobody", the riding around in the car with the rap songs, the sleepover, climbing trees and the overall just quirky behavior. We looked the other way and said, " That's just Jim, wait until he gets his guys and his systems in place you won't laugh anymore".  Now five years later we have had some success, but nothing compared to what the expectation was.

I watch intently and what I see is we are out matched when playing teams with elite speed, depth and most importantly determination. Go back and watch OSU last year and you will see Campbell and Olave run around the defense like we were standing still. Hate Meyer all you want, but he went and got the speed that is necessary in today's game. And please don't tell me that he was cheating, When Carr was here and we beat OSU every year, did something happened after he left? Did we forget how to cheat ?

My neighbor is a huge UM fan and yesterday, at half time he was cutting his grass. I watched all of it, but if it continues and he doesn't figure something out I will be investing my time in something else. Maybe instead of Hail to the Victors, we should have the band play Glory Days by Bruce Springsteen.

 I remember vividly his…

I remember vividly his thoughts about the differences in the mindset of Japanese car makers vs American car makers when Honda and Toyota started their domination. He remarked that if the American auto makers encountered a snake, a committee would be set up to study snakes. Another group would be formed and by the time they decided what to do, everyone would be dead from a snakebite. The Japanese on the other hand would cut the head off the snake and move on. I can say firsthand that was the case when I worked with the auto industry. I would make a suggestion for something to be done in a Honda plant and in a day I would have an answer. The American plants would have to think about what the proposal was and by the time a decision was made the problem at hand would spiral into replacing rather than repairing. Woody Hayes said it also, “ If you don’t believe the competition can’t beat you, look out, you might just get run over by a Honda.”  I took those things to heart when I considered what the competition was doing.

Separate Ways.. Journey

It came on when I was on the way home from my parents house. My mother had just died from cancer and I was alone in the car. I had to pull over. Still hard to listen to even to this day.

Over you.. Miranda Lambert

Written by Blake Shelton after the death of his brother. Makes me think of my sister that passed last year on Christmas Day.  She fought cancer for a year and it took her.

I hate this disease with all my soul..

We lived in the Columbus…

We lived in the Columbus area when OSU won the national championship. After that year the spring game was a sell out. They have competitions at halftime with former players against current players. I have to say it generates excitement. The vest changed the atmosphere and when Urban came in things ramped up. Beating OSU will be a game changer for the program. People love a winner.

Double post

Let’s say for the sake of…

Let’s say for the sake of argument that the team has two losses going into the last game of the year. Does a player set out that game because he could be injured?

Injuries happen, that’s part of the game and its an accepted part of all sports. When players start getting selective on games it sets a bad tone.

As a captain more is expected, that comes with the title and I would think that was conveyed by Harbaugh. I would venture to say as a player Jim would have never missed that game.

Plain and simple OSU showed…

Plain and simple OSU showed up and Michigan didn’t.

With respect to the students a vast majority could care less about the game and that is all schools. I think the game is more of a social event that is forgotten once the game is over.

I had my eye exam last week and found the optometrist was an OSU grad. I asked her about the game and she told me she didn’t watch it and really doesn’t care about football. She further commented that most of her friends don’t either.

The game means more to the people on this and other boards, but the population at large isn’t that interested.

In ten years I wonder what the landscape of football will look like. With the advent of CTE and its effects you have to wonder if parents will allow their kids to participate.

I lost my sister on…

I lost my sister on Christmas Day last year. At the end she only wanted immediate family to visit and people were turned away. My niece was the gatekeeper and some people were angry, but those were my sister’s instructions.

I would see it there is someone who is helping manage those last days and get their input. You might be taking the trip only to be turned away.

Only you can make the call. I wish the best for you and your friend at this difficult time.

I call repetitive negative…

I call repetitive negative threads “ electrical outlet moments”. The saying came about after a friend would repeatedly go to a blog written by a mutual friend that posts negative comments along with workout pictures. He would ask me on a frequent basis if I had seen the latest post. My comment is and was, “ No I don’t read that blog and I really don’t care what   that post contains “

I told him reading a blog like this is exactly like a kid putting their finger in an outlet. It's more annoying than painful and usually you are smart enough to stop. However, for some reason you continue you put your finger in the outlet. He laughed and said yeah.

With respect to the new recruits, I would hope that they just ignore any negativity.

I do feel the program is at a crossroad. It’s time to win and all the excuses are worthless. It’s all in place, now it’s time to execute.
