Actually think James Franklin is a good coach. He is a slimy individual but I do think he is a good coach. Maybe not Urban or Dantonio good but good none the less.
Thing I must say is that even though i've been more negative against Hoke, it behooves all of us to want Hoke to succeed because OSU, PSU and MSU will pull no punches on the recruiting trail. Either the dirty tactics they use will be confirmed to these recruits or they'll be made a liar...It's our choice!
See what Hoke does for year 4 then. Look at what most coaches have done by year 4 and then we can judge Hoke after this year is over. I already have a good idea of what i believe will happen but no one knows for sure.

Devin won't be doing that, yes. I actually like Hoke as an individual and he is a great representation of a great university like Michigan but he needs to win this year and alot of fans i know feel the same way that's all i'm saying.
Same JB who has won two B1G titles and took us to a national title game and took this year's depleted team to an elite 8. Tell me when Hoke does the equivalent.
I have played football at the high school level and i know the sport pretty damn well and just because you have a coaching change does not mean you will not win on the contrary there have been several programs who changed coaches and won. I'm tired of the wait until next year approach but if you are happy with it God bless you.

Which is the operative word Hoke doesn't turn this ship around the recruiting which has already tailed off from when he first started will get worse. How bad does it have to be to realize it is not working with a particular coach is probably the opinion of some.
Would love the obvious picks (Harbaugh brothers or Les) but I would also consider a David Shaw ( If he would leave where he graduated from), Jim Mora would be excellent IMO or even be bold and hire an excellent DC that is primed to be a great head coach. maybe even one from the enemy's camp if you know what i mean. I however believe UM could get a very good to great coach because of the resources as long as the Michigan man BS doesn't hinder the process.

Hoke should've been made to lead another program before getting to Michigan. Like a program a tier under Michigan. For instance, a Stanford (If they did not have fantastic coaching already), a UCLA etc. He is not ready for the big time and if he fails here he may never get the opportunity to lead a "blue blood" again.
Pray that there are not many fans who want Hoke to stay if he loses 4 or 5 games. Ok the toughest games are on the road, guess what good coaches do? win road games.
Always wondered why some in our fan base are willing to lower the standards of this great football program and meanwhile programs like USC, OSU etc. in most years will run you out of town for anything less than a conference title or at least consistent double digit wins in most seasons. This is Michigan after all. This is not directed to any poster at mgoblog.
Thirty years old so I still semi-remember the glory days of beating both but I must be honest in that this year the MSU game means more to me. What rivalry is first? the game. Which rivalry game do we need more? sparty.
Be clear in the history of the game there has been many ups and downs. In other words we have dominated OSU before as they have us but we are not use to being dominated by sparty.
Need to beat MSU period...For the first time since the 60's they have a better program than ours. We've always went back and forth with OSU in terms of the victory column.
May be in the minority but i really like Dave Brandon as AD. He doesn't do everything i would like but i can appreciate an AD that wants UM to win and do it with a little style and swagger.
Can't stomach Mark Dantonio for a second but this kid can do worse...The grench (Dantonio) is the best coach in the B1G and one of the top 10 nationally in my opinion.
Have had more success recently obviously and they have a better coaching staff IMO but what they don't have is UM's resources, facilities, brand and tradition. We'll be kicking their asses soon enough with or without coach Hoke.

Ryan is an absolute stud and i bet he is very productive in the pros. He's my second favorite player on the team behind Devin Funchess.

Reality is that coaches very seldom get 5 years anymore to build a program.

Is not entirely true..depends on who you hire. If Hoke doesn't win this year he should be gone and i actually like him.
