Wow. Nick Saban isn't the Devil. Re: Dr. Phillips

Gee, what a shock. What do we learn with this article?

First off, LSU practiced at Dr. Phillips last year, and it's the SEC's practice field for this bowl.

Second off, the bowl committee is paying Alabama's site fee.

Third off, the only thing Alabama is doing is improving the showers, and the field is being graded and seeded due to Dr. Phillips's recently completed season, and which Saban rightly points out that "they can't take with them."

I realize this doesn't fit with the tired meme that OMG Saban is the devil and he sucks, and I agree his oversigning is wrong and should be stopped.

But let's let this article cool it with the OMG THIS SHOULD BE AN NCAA VIOLATION EVEN IF IT'S NOT.  Please return to finding ridiculous things to be upset at wrt Kelly, Dantonio and Tressel.

and clueless. Yes, the only things that ever happen are the things officially reported. Vulnerability to fraud and abuse is not a concern. Obvs this will all proceed by the book

jg, it's not like the devil bursts in with a cloud of brimstone and free tats. Remember, he is the Father of Lies and the Great Deceiver. Would Faust or Robert Johnson have sold their souls to a dude who looked like this?

Of course not.

But make no mistake: when Alabama leaves DPHS, there will be waste lain, hearts torn asunder, and excuses for oversigning on the lips of the righteous.

Plus HaHa will definitely sign a LOI.

Lucifer the Archangel was the most beautifful creature to have ever existed. Anywhere. Ever. More beautiful than the handsomest movie star.

You won't see it coming if you expect an ogre.

It is often as salesmen work. They trade on the superficial. Saban isn't Satan. But he knows what he is doing and doesn't want you to recognize it for what it is. Saban, like all deceivers, wants you to buy what he is selling, not see him for what he is. Anybody who thinks there is no connection between Alabama's use of Dr. Phillips'  facilities, Alabama's "generosity" and recruiting is simply being naive.

OP you are forgetting that Saban is recruiting kids from Dr Philips. That for me is the bigest problem with this scenario. If Dee ends up in Alabama you can thank the use of Dr Philips practice facilities by Alabama during the dead period for recruiting.

And I suppose you believe that all of those Alabama kids really had medical hardships and legitimately ended up on medical scholarships, right?

That said, thanks for sharing the link.  It does make it appear less devious (not Saban but the improvements).

And I'm no fan of Saban.  But all this hyperventilating over Bama at Dr. Philliips does us no good.  SEC schools have been using the Doc Phillips facilities for years, and it is one of the more obvious choices in all of Orlando in any event.  I've been there; it is pretty conveniently located to a lot of the Orlando hotels, traffic, etc.

I'm not sure that some of the talented kids at Doc Phillips want to read a Michigan blog, wherein we are complaining about benefits and improvements going to their school, from whatever the source.

Now, what would be nice, is if the Orlando Bowl games would please rotate things so that use of Doc Phillips' facilities were rotated among conferences.  But the school has a long-time SEC connection, starting with its first principal, who was an avid Tennessee alum.

A lot of posters seem to think that nothing should be posted that could even remotely offend a recruit. I am no where near convinced that recruits spend anywhere near as much time on MGOBLOG as you or I do section 1. Do recruits read some stuff online yes I am sure they do. Do they read everyword we write and way it like something they have heard from a coach before deciding what school to go to I doubt it.

The fact that Alabama felt the need to put out the fire on this via their mouthpiece shows how obvious the conflict of interest is. HaHa tweeted that he's going to be checking out some Alabama practices. Sure would be nice if he could walk out the door and watch Michigan practice during a dead period in recruiting. I'd like to thank the national outlets that made this an issue for making me feel like less of a paranoid idiot for thinking this created an unfair recruiting advantage. Well, at least Saban isn't shady at all and won't take advantage of this setup. Talk about a Christmas present.

I get your point, but not diggin' your smug righteousness.  Given the information that was out there prior to this clarification, it was more than reasonable for people to have reacted the way that they did.
