Would like to see Mason as RB in short yardage situations. Who's with me?

Hey all, first post!  :D

I'm starting this thread with the hope that it will pick up steam.  I, like many of you, am all for our new-look offense, and yet, have missed seeing Bench Mason getting his hands on the ball in short yardage situations a couple times a game.  -Both because I think it's a solid play-call in said situation, and b/c everyone seems to like Bench, and I think it will lift the spirits of the team and all of us fans.  I know it would put a smile on my face anyway.

So, with either Tru and/or Zach likely sitting out again, and after taking a long hard look at our short yardage plays against Army, are you 'telling me there's a chance' this will happen?  What do you think?  Pro's and cons?   One con that came to mind is the possibility (likelihood?) that he hasn't gotten any O reps and might be rusty.  And the last thing we need is more sloppiness with the ball.  (Unless they've gotten him some reps these past two weeks.)

Anyway, go blue!

The biggest ripoff I’ve experienced as a Michigan fan is to not see a sophomore Bench at 270 pounds murder facing fools. And then what about a 290 pound senior fullback. On Harbaugh team. It bums me out. He should have the td record and instead he’s playing DT. Get him the ball.

I hope the just sit Zach down for the year if he's never going to be 100%

You could tell he was limited, despite his gutsy play .  He flashed great vision , but left tons of yards on the field by failing to make guys miss once into the 2nd level.

ZC did great imo. If they wouldn't have ran him 13 times in a row up the middle into a 9 man box, & maybe passed a few times to mix it up ...he would have had more room to run.

Short yardage by goal - or 3rd & 3 to 5  ...Mason in backfield with 4 receivers out. He is a great pass blocker, can run it on goal plays, or hit him on a quick outlet. Hit him in the flat & see who wants to step in front of him with a full head of steam...

Belichek (sp) plays a fullback.

I think the Zach Charbonnet injury rumors were planted by Harbaugh to get Wisconsin to under-prepare for the 40 carries he'll get on the read-deterministic-run-up-the-middle play.

I think we need the big set for the goal line, Ryan Hayes as a TE, maybe another offensive lineman at the other TE spot with McKeon. Ben mason at FB and Charbonnet or VanSumeren at RB, I understand Gattis wants to do the “speed in space” or whatever he’s calling it but I think it’d be best for the team to bring the big fellas in on goal line or short distance 3rd, 4th down plays

Best of both worlds, diamond pistol formation with Mason flanked by two tight ends or extra linemen as the extra RB's. Maybe throw Zach in there as one of the extra RB's at times to keep the defense guessing. I really don't think you are going to see Gattis go under center, so something like this is the next best thing.
