Women's bball Elite Eight open thread
They showed Flau'jae Johnson meditating on the court under the basket pre-game.
Should we call that a “Flau’Jae Jae”
"The event of March so far"... in April.
Lol, good point.
It was an April fools joke ...
Yeah, a joke. That's the ticket!
To be fair if not for Feb 29th this year it would be March 31st!
I don’t think this is true. Seems more likely it would be April 2nd today. Which would be nice so we could tell what is a joke and what isn’t…
You don't math, do you?
Who's playing? What time? Did the title say it all?
Mulkey's outfit, surprisingly monotone.
Strange given her brand being dressing like a magpie with a vision problem
She must like birds? There was a game last year that she looked like a pink flamingo.
I compared her to Izzo the other day. Now she’s even dressing like him.
She's a good Subway sandwich taller than Izzo, tho.
Kim dressed like an angry background player from the leprechaun. Refs nearly let her walk out and set a pick
As long as Kim Mulkey vs. losing doesn't appear in the diary headlines I'm good.
Angel Reese and I agree about shot selection
Iowa, sloppy passing.
And bad rebounding
LSU has more size, they're probably going to win rebounds. They're aggressively getting in the passing lanes too. Frankly, Iowa is lucky to be down 5 thanks to their fast start.
Yikes. Reese fell and just limped off the court.
Reese back, and doing work again. Iowa needed to do more while she was out.
Imagine how out of hand this game would be in Angel Reese got even half the Edey whistle
Caitlin is great but damn, she can get really sloppy.
LSU just needs to dump it to Reese. She's unstoppable.
Nothing like reading takes 45 minutes later.
Just like the over reaction of nearly every competitive football game in the first 3 series.
This point needs to be listed in bold under every new post
45-45
Hard to ask for a better half.
Awesome shot there by Johnson.
That was a thing of beauty
Awesome first half - it’s crazy how much women’s college hoops moves the needle today!
Agreed.
12.6M in viewers last year's title game. Will they surpass?
Hey, this is great sports television. The level of athlete in women's sports right now is truly impressive.
I honestly was looking forward to this matchup more than any of the men's elite 8 games.
Things have changed, I have changed... for the better.
I enjoyed Illinois getting clobbered by UCON.
It's nice when players don't change teams yearly. When every player on your team is a threat to leave. You can see a player develop over a number of years in your own team's jersey. Rivalries develop.
Sadly NIL and transfer portal will be coming to womens bball soon and ruin that as well.
LSU's starting point guard played for Louisville the past 3 years...
HVL was at Louisville last season and Angel Reese was at Maryland 2 seasons ago. WBB is affected by it.
WNBA still do not allow players to get drafted until 3 years out of HS which helps the overall product of CWBB.
Angel Reese has been the best player on the floor and it hasn’t been close
Angel has been fantastic, but Caitlin Clark and I both beg to differ
Clark gets demerits for her many turnovers. Reese has been scoring, rebounding, blocking, and passing. And two steals.
Eh shes playing outside of herself because she has to. LSU has so much more individual talent than Iowa that they can all mostly play more comfortably and shoulder way less of a load than Clark,
No question, Iowa is basically Caitlin and the Clarkettes. And I didn't mean to imply she's playing poorly. But where you expect Caitlin to be way better than Reese is with assists and points, and right now those are fairly even while Reese is still rebounding and having a defensive presence.
And now Clark just drained one to open the half.
Clark did a good bit of her damage with Reese off the floor. 3/4 shooting for 7 points in the three minutes she was out. 4/9 shooting with 3 turnovers with Angel on the floor.
Angel’s stat line was 13 pts, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks, 0 turnovers.
Clark’s stat line 19 pts, 1 rebound, 5 assists, 0 steals, 0 blocks, 3 turnovers.
You know Clark wanted to give Van Lith the "you can't see me" wave right there.
It's wild how much worse Van Lith has been in this tournament than when she just fucking murdered us in the Elite Eight two years ago.
hear me out, what if clark is iowa footballs next oc
Iowa basketball (men and women) are just the polar opposite of their football.
Wow. Lid on the basket for LSU and Clark is definitely feeling it now.
