Win Will Cause Me To/Loss Will Cause Me To Wisconsin Edition

Submitted by maizenblue92 on October 1st, 2021 at 8:30 PM

Back for another week of "Win Will Cause Me To/Loss Will Cause Me to." This should be a good week due to the stakes of the game and overall mood of the fanbase. A win and 7-0 going into EL is a real possibility and a loss and the BPONE makes its not so triumphant return.

My leadoff:

Win will cause me to: Start making the run at the football Lucy is holding

Loss will cause me to: Hello BPONE my old friend

Wall of Fame:

Our new wall of fame member is The Darker Blue due to his honesty about bowel movements and well Michigan seemed to follow suit with one of their own in the 2nd half. Congrats to The Darker Blue you may collect your free internet points.

Washington Winner:

Win will cause me to: Have a nice big pour of Basil Hayden, open all the windows, and blast the fight song.

Loss will cause me to: Shut off all the lights, still a big pour of Basil Hayden, and then probably wont leave the house for a week or so.

NIU Winner:

Win will cause me to: get irrationally excited about a less daunting B1G schedule than anticipated

Loss will cause me to: look under the bed for Rocky Lombardi

Rutgers Winner:

Win: I'll take a big steamy dump

Loss: same as a win but it will be in my pants

Truthfully it’s hard to hope after you’ve been kicked in the balls consistently for ten plus years.

What made me love Michigan football were the zany comebacks.  We weren’t the best but we could pretty much play with anyone (who didn’t run a spread offense).  And honestly you never knew what they would do (ex - Lloyd’s last game v urban).  Sure we wasted talent and won one 1/2 championship and yea app st (I saw it first hand), but we had a chance.

I get why people are pissed, they miss the hope.  That late game magic, beating someone you shouldn’t.  For the past decade it’s been a perpetual week 4 (if we are lucky) mirage.  I want to feel again and I know I’m not alone.

Harbaugh, excluding last year, had an extremely similar track record to Loyd Carr era Michigan post 2000. Last year was Rich Rod bad, but if that was just a weird COVID blip, we can go back to being good enough to enjoy most Saturdays. If that was a trend, then ya, that sucks. But if you didn’t feel more hopeful in 2015-2019 than you did in 2008-2014, that is on you and you alone.

Bullshit.

Look no further than last weekend.

It's not a tired trope at all, it's the honest truth.

We won and last weekend felt like a loss due to all the negativity. Even the Washington win left people crying for more passing instead of enjoying a P5 win, under the lights, on the biggest recruiting weekend of the year, and on national TV.

If we win a low scoring game...people will be better than last weekend, but the snowflakes about McNamara will be a blizzard.

Win will cause me to change my preseason prediction to 10-2 from 9-3.

Loss will cause me to do nothing.  I had this game pegged as a loss from the jump.

Win will cause me to: just believe this is a shitty Wisconsin team

Loss will cause me to: wait for the next opportunity for this team to drop a game we should win.

Win will cause me to come to the mgoblog message board and start all kinds of threads laughing at the haters for being wrong

Loss will cause me to go back through UMxWolverines post history and upvote everything he had ever said about Harbaugh

Win will cause me to: pick out Hail to the Victors on the piano for my one-year-old for an hour after the game in hopes of getting her to absorb it/like it.

Loss will cause me to: take her and the dogs to the dog park and pretend I'm a mature enough adult not to have my whole mood changed by the actions of 18-22-year-olds. And drink after everyone else goes to bed.

Win - Will be a reminder that hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.

Loss - Will be a reminder that BPONE is a funny thing. First you hate it. Then you get used to it. Enough time passes, it gets so you depend on it. That’s institutionalized.

A win will cause me to: become rather excited as we would be doing something that we don't seem to do that often lately, which is get road wins against teams like, oh, Wisconsin.

A loss will cause me to:

Win will cause me to: Take off my adult Depends, cut two holes on each side and put it on my head as I walk into church the next morning to get baptized.

A win will cause me to pump my fist, and drink a beer.

A loss will cause me to shrug, and drink a beer

Pro tip: the players are in their late teens or early twenties (except for Wisconsin's defensive secondary) playing under closer public scrutiny than any of us will face in our entire lives. Who the hell know how any of them will play?!

Win will cause me to affirm that Wisconsin is not good, but allow me to be a bit more optimistic that a 10-2 season is possible.

Loss will cause me to affirm Wisconsin is not good, but force me to be a bit more pessimistic that a 7-5 season is possible.

A win will cause us to have nice things, and cause me to celebrate, spend lots of time on MgoBlog and watch a lot more football this weekend, and start looking forward to the Nebraska game tomorrow night.

A loss will cause me to be sad for half of Saturday, spend some time on MgoBlog and some time reflecting on my priorities, watch less football this weekend,  and start looking forward to Nebraska game Monday or Tuesday.

Win: take back all the mean things I’ve said about the coach with respect to the Rutgers gameplan

Loss: rip my soul into seven pieces and having those seven piece latch onto 7 random objects so I can liver forever in pain and agony

Win will cause me to...start believing that maybe the program is finally starting to turn the corner on offense. Because winning will most likely mean that we actually started utilizing our skill position players, threw the ball successfully, and finally opened up the playbook, necessitated by the literally best run defense in all of college football right now.

Loss will cause me to...confirm all of my suspicions that this is the same ol' Harbaugh & Co. and nothing has changed nor ever will change as long as Harbaugh is here. Because after 7 years, there's little reason to believe the future will be any different than the past.
