A winning program means more than one year, including this one. Juwan Howard isn't responsible for building the program to where it currently sits. That was in place when he took the job. Beilein didn't leave him with a talent depleted roster. He had many good pieces in place. Recruits notice that. Juwan Howard being the coach just sweetens the deal. IMO.
He hasn’t always been a Michigan lock. There was an article from another site with him a month ago saying it was a close two team race. Many felt at that time Michigan was the leader because of his fandom & family fandom. But evidently shortly after that article ND took the lead. Webb & the other Michigan reporters are saying it’s because of one thing, but the national & ND guys are saying it’s for a different reason: Marcus Freeman. Evidently ND is taking 4 LBs, and currently has one 4 Star Committed & leads for a group of 4-5 more (Cheeks, Jackson, Tuliumalaka, Tafiti, & Burnham). Freeman has told them not to wait too long if they want a spot. The ND side thinks a couple will commit soon, and Burnham is rumored to be thinking about it. We’ll see.
Who is Marcus Freeman and why does he matter?
Freeman is the new DC at ND, formerly of UC and a real OG.
This will give the chicken littles something to whine about. It's been rough going for them with recent recruiting news and hoops success.
Our new young recruiters will reel him back in. He may hold off on his decision until after the season. I just hope Harbaugh can get the program going in the right directions with 7 or 8 wins next season. If Harbaugh has another losing season then recruiting will really go down and Harbaugh will be back on the hot seat.
2nd straight losing season = getting fired, or it should equal that.
Some of the Rivals’ guys flipped their picks to ND tonight.
Also saw that they flipped their Gould picks from Michigan to ND as well. Must be something going on.
Recruitment still open, he’s slowing it down a bit since the staff change up. I think he just needs time for UM to shoot their shot, and I feel confident we come out on top, unless he is rushed to a decision.
