William Mohan confirms transfer to Tennessee
Well, I thought he was going to be a pretty good college player, but how he's headed to Tennessee so I guess not.
Can’t believe he went there voluntarily
Dad joke of the day. +1
I think he was voluntold, actually.
What's up with the weird connection between UM and Tennessee? Do we both appeal to some niche crowd whose parents remember when we both used to be great?
Well our former LB coach probably had something to do with this, since he now coaches at Tenn.
I don't know if I would call it a "connection" per se. Besides a couple of in-state TN recruits committing to UM, it's more along the lines of a one-way transfer route from Michigan to Tennessee. Nothing has ever really worked out for those guys so I wouldn't hold my breath for Mohan.

I also get the feeling that UM and TN both come down the final group of several top recruits, which is an unusual pairing...guys like Quavaris Crouch & Eric Gray. I also thought we may have been in the running to To'o To'o both times, but that may have been wishful thinking. Maybe UM is just trying to make a push down south and they can't crack TX, GA, or AL so we're settling for TN (and of course FL).
Answer to your Michigan-Tennessee connection question:
We both suck, revel in past glories, and now rely entirely on gimmicks like cool uniforms, big stadiums, and iconic fight songs to mask an inability to consistently muster good seasons despite having resources that outclass 95% of peers.
I’m not trying to pick a fight here, I’m just curious. What in your opinion constitutes a “good” season. I don’t think any of us were fans of 2-4 but I would argue that all of Harbaugh’s other seasons were varying levels of good to great.
Nebraska says hello.
So does Texas and FSU.
I wonder if Jim regrets hiring Brown and steering the program that direction... the recruiting seemed so disjointed on the defensive side of ball... with so many LBs and hybrids fizzling out and transferring. I'm hopeful this new staff will recruit better, which will result in more uniform roster and less outflow. The LB spot is particurarly troublesome...
I think losing Savage hurts more than Mohan from a LB perspective, as Mohan was one of those guys rated as an athlete that was just inside the top-500. He's a lottery ticket and Brown has had success pulling guys like that and seeing if they can work out. But with the change in scheme I'm not surprised these viper-type guys start looking elsewhere. It does stink to see a guy transfer who has potential but I can see why he'd see not a lot of paths to playing time ahead.
It was deceiving while Don Brown had Brady Hoke's players the first two seasons. That early success probably bought him two extra years before Harbaugh finally pulled the plug.
Hey, when someone offers you a McDonald's bag you gotta jump on it
Solid Apache reference. A video that truly showed what too much cocaine looked like.
Must be a playing time thing? May be during spring practice he knew he would be riding the pines more. TN probably needs as much help as they can get and he knew he would play more there!
He entered before the spring game and didn't practice with team during spring.
He no longer had a position.
Recently, Shaw reported that the Wolverines are not likely to utilize the VIPER position. Instead, new Michigan defensive coordinator Mike MacDonald will focus on a more traditional NFL look with the linebacker group.
William Mohan is the player to named later in the trade of Joe Milton for Junior Colson and future draft pick Kody Jones.
Eric Gray needs to be part of this transaction somewhere as a third trade partner with Oklahoma. Probably a salary cap thing.
I heard he may be the player-to-be-named-later we get in that Brady Hoke trade.
Lot of opportunity there at linebacker for him, tire fire of a program, but lots of playing time on the table.
Best of luck to him.
everything is more enjoyable when you add 'happy'. meals, endings, trails......
Wish him luck. Feels like UT and MSU are involved in the half the P5 transfers this cycle, probably because both of the coaches seem unhappy with the current rosters and figure they need to just rebuild them as quickly as possible.
I live in Knoxville and UT got killed by the transfer portal when Pruitt got canned. I believe they are trying to fire him for cause and he is fighting it. Could get worse before it gets better. No doubt they are going to struggle this year (more so than usual). I go to a couple games a year, they are fun and I generally don't care who wins, but it is big time college football.
Feels like UT is the go-to program for players who flamed out but are determined to go to name-brand program, because the Vols are totally fucked for the next few years.
Aloha Apache!
I honestly thought he was on a Wheaties box for a second.
