Wildcat with and without the Quarterback on the field.
Personally, I like the idea of having another weapon on the field as opposed to an immobile quarterback with a cornerback spying the backfield and off of him by 15 yards. I know the idea is that a quick screen can be thrown to the qb and then he tosses it to a downfield reciever. But if I can see that so can everyone else. In the second photo it seems like the defense is being pressed to cover from boundary to boundary. Of course this hinges on the wildcat QB being a legitimate threat to complete a throw downfield. It sounds like Peppers is diverse enough to throw, so thats good.
I'm really looking forward to this evolving over the course of the season. It looks to be a fierce weapon for this offense.

Yeah, exactly. If they saw Speight running off the field, the D could substitiute and make their play call accordingly. Like Tate said, if they don't see it until we break our huddle, that's advantage us. Moreso than whoever we'd put in in Speight's spot.

Also,
Speight knows all the plays and has a radio in his helmet. Peppers does not.

to force opposing staffs to spend extra time coming up with ways to defend Jabrill. Show them a little and make them worry about A LOT.
I know it's two weeks away, but Illinois is in for the rivalry game of their lifetime and it's entirely possible Lovie's head may asplode well before the game.

As far as I'm concerned, they should put Peppers in the huddle every single offensive play when we play Ohio State so he is some kind of threat on every play. He can rest up for defense when he's in a decoy play.
He brings a completely different dimension to the offense when he is in there that we are going to need against Ohio State.
Even with our great defense, we can't fiddle fuck around for a quarter and a half against Ohio State while our offense tries to hit its stride. We'll be down two touchdowns before we know it.
Peppers presence puts tremendous stress on an opposing defense. He did it against Wisconsin, but for some reason we went away from it after only 4 or 5 plays. Maybe he wasn't fully ready, but we need to get him ready for Ohio State.

He's gonna need to be full speed to keep Barrett from crossing the LOS. This season really can't go any better in terms of our chances of beating OSU away. Got a nice SOS boost in Colorado, the best team we'll play otherwise is a manball team, and the rest of the schedule looks unimposing. This allows Brown to keep a lot of bullets in the chamber that OSU won't have seen on film, and I think it's very likely he has a lot that he hasn't shown anyone yet. Get Peppers 10-15 touches, along with 10 or so decoy plays that they haven't seen on offense and we'll be cooking. Harbaugh has been taking a long view with his in game strategy all season and I love it.

I agree, going to need Peppers hammering the fuck out of the bucs right away and over and over. If Pep is going to win the heisman, he is going to have to work his ass off that game. Really need Deveon to run like a mad man that game too. He hasn't been doing shit in my opinioin compared to what he did last year. I hope he is saving his mean streak for that game. Cant forget about Drake Johnson coming in for his last hoorahs. Then just blitz the fuck out of Barrett and watch his shitty accuracy in his short passing game that he rifles so damn hard go to the dumps. Man they are going to die. If the team gets jacked up and comes out swinging like they did the last time they were there, they will win. Book it.

he lines up as RB and as slot enough that teams can't assume wildcat automatically. And if they start, we'll counter with a play in which Speight is QB and whatever personnel the defense has to stop wildcat is vulnerable.

Yeah that's a product of the commentators dumbing it down for the average fan. Kind of like how split ends and flankers are now just called wide receivers.
Great day to be a wolverine when the biggest grievance is position terminology.

I remember the Jets would bring in Brad Smith and put him in completely normal under-center formations. The commentators would lose it about the "Wildcat QB" coming in, simply because a fast black backup QB would enter the game.
