Why doesn’t Justin Fields even have an offer from U of M?
So I am hoping to get some input on this, not to create controversy or piss people off. We ask about the gap in talent all the time. How is that Justin Fields doesn’t even have an offer from U of M? How can we expect to make up the gap in talent when we are not even offering players with his skill set? I understand we may not land a ton of these guys but we should at least try right?

Fields is not even a top 10 player for them. They still beat us with their backup.

Been a long day of drinking? He is a top 5 player in the country...

right, he was the number 1 dual threat and won the Elite 11 MVP over Trevor Lawerence which is based on 100% throwing but yeah he isn't a top 10 on ohio.

Michigan can’t recruit every kid in the country. You put out a feeler and if the kid reciprocates interest, then you can spend time recruiting them but if they don’t show any interest, you have to move on to the next one.
In recruiting you hear one word over and over, it’s relationship. You have to spend time every day texting or calling recruits. You can’t waste time trying to develop a relationship with a player who has no interest in your program.

How Michigan recruits is explained pretty well in the book Overtime, by Bacon. (I like that book a lot.)
They narrow their focus to players who:
-- Can handle it academically.
-- Understand that they aren't getting a pile of bagman money.
-- Have a mindset that is a good fit for the program (got the feeling from reading the book and examples that it means they don't tend to go for prima donnas, for example).
-- Are seriously considering Michigan.
If any of those aren't a good fit, they don't go after the guy and spend their time on other players.

This is all propaganda BS. If you believe this crap you should go back to 1950’s.
Also, Fields had offers from Harvard, Northwestern, and Yale but can’t make the cut at Michigan? This is the issue with your fan base lol.
Michigan recruits the same kids Florida, Ohio State and Alabama recruit. If you think the football players at Michigan have the same experience and standards as the regular student body...your delusional or just lying to yourself.
This is why the country laughs, because you all still think it’s the ‘50s. Michigan isn’t even that clean of a program...they are a football factory like most of the other power 5!!

Doesn't matter. If he had come to UM, he would have ended up as a meh QB.
