"Week 1" opening night game thread

More college football tonight!  Some of it might actually be good! (Probably not - don't care).

Big Ten football starts tonight with Minnesota taking on FCS South Dakota State.  Also UCLA vs Cincinnati as early night game and the BYU-Utah Holy War late.

Productivity tomorrow morning will be low.

Stark difference in look between the Holy War and the UMinn-SDSU game.  Utah-BYU looks like a big time CFB game, with snappy uniforms and a big huge crowd.  UMinn has a nice crowd, but the field and uniforms make it look G5 at best, but my first thought was FBS.

Turnover gift and Minnie with the momentum now.  Six straight runs between the tackles and a trick-play 2pt conversion.

SD St. has looked like the better team the entire second half but Minnie leads by 7.

Why am I hoping for a SDSU TD on this drive?  I mean, I like watching the B1G win, and I don't really have anything against Minn.  Is it the underdog thing?

In any case, it makes for an interesting game that explains me still being up on a school night...

This is why teams like SDSU lose. It's 3rd & 12, and they hand it off 7 yds deep looking for the corner on the short side of the field.  Picked up 2 yds, and got sacked on 4th and 10.  Game over, good night!

Disappointing 2nd half to what seemed like a good game. Oh well, though, still a good night overall. Kinda wanted Utah to lose only because it would make Pac12 look worse. Whittingham is a good, but not elite, coach.

Just got back from the Central Arkansas / Western Kentucky game. UCA won their 3rd ever game against an FBS school. Great game, UCA scored 21 points in the fourth quarter. UCA were a 10.5 point underdog. Finally got to see the home of the Jack & Jackie Harbaugh Stadium Club.

This was my 2 year old's first football game. Looking forward to taking him to the Big House Saturday.

Also - seemed like a non-FBS school beat an FBS school every week last year. Looks like we're off to more of the same this year.
