Looks like Kim Barnes Arico's highest rated recruiting class has signed their letters of intent: https://mgoblue.com/news/2023/11/8/womens-basketball-wolverines-sign-five-to-national-letters-of-intent

This includes:

  • Olivia Olson (5-star)
  • Syla Swords (5-star)
  • Mila Holloway (4-star)
  • Te'Yala Delfosse (3-star)
  • Aaiyanna Dunbar

A short bio of each player is available at the link.

Nice! I knew they had a solid group coming in but I didn't realize that two of them were 5*. KBA just signed a contract extension too so the recent success should (hopefully) continue with the WBB.

Syla Swords is a high seed on the All-Name bracket too.

Fantastic news.  Congratulations and wishes for a very rewarding undergraduate career for each of these new members of the Michigan family.

We coulda had a thing going with Olivia Olson and Syla Swords but noooooooo, the rest of the recruits just HAD to use different initials for their first and last names.

/ Syla Swords almost certainly has no relation to Sam Sword, but they should probably team up for an action movie poster or something.  Preferably with swords.

it's a big class, but we're probably looking at a lot of turnover next season...hansen and brett will be out of eligibility, and four more seniors (taylor williams, cam williams, elise stuck, and whitney sollom) that have covid years available.

i don't know that we're done, either, for what it's worth.  i know we were in on naz hillmon clone, zania socka-nguemen as of friday (she picked ucla).  there are still a lot of top-100s out there, too.

in any case - yes, certainly one of the two best classes in program history, rivaled only by the naz hillmon / danielle rauch, amy dilk / emily kiser class...and that class wasn't this highly ranked coming in.  espn currently has us as the #4 class in the country (!):

also - syla swords' sister, savvy swords, is currently the #13 in the 2026 class.

But what rules did we break to make this happen?  Sorry - I’m just suffering from Spygate fatigue, like everyone else.  This is truly wonderful news.  Coach is doing a terrific job in every way.  Leaders and Best.
