WAY OT: Best Male Life

Submitted by Ron_Lippitt on
Way off topic, obviously.

Been managing a lengthy debate at work over the concept of "Best Male Life."

The question: Who, among the world's male species, is leading a life worthy of the MOST envy? Of course, the debate is an inexact science, so I've quantified it down to the following criteria:

- Fame

- Riches

- Attractiveness

- Attention from women

- Best at what they do

- Pop culture relevance

Tom Brady has been leading the office debate for some time now; scoring high across all of the above measurements. He's hard to argue with. Tiger Woods' fall from grace knocked him out of contention, as this is purely a list of CURRENT contenders -- although you could argue Tiger still merits a place at the table. George Clooney/Brad Pitt merit some consideration, although they both lose points on age, and I'm not sure either are the best at what they do. One person in my office demands Dave Grohl's consideration. He's an interesting consideration. While scoring low on attractiveness, ya gotta figure the guy leads a Top-10 life.

Me, I have lobbied for Prince Harry. Dude looks like he's having the time of his life. He's got the money, looks, and access to everything he wants -- with NONE of the responsibility. Prince Harry is my number 1 going into 2015.

On this week before SB, I'd be curious of your thoughts on this utterly moronic, unwinnable debate.

Leaders And Best

Some random douchebag living off a trust fund from his fraud father? There are thousands of these types. This one is just a big enough loser who seeks fame by going on Stern and putting his life on Instagram.  Most of these trust fund kids at least have the common sense to live it up in privacy which their money buys. I think Bilzerian is actually now regretting the image he has tried to cultivate about himself.

Good timing for this. GQ just published an article on the truth about Bilzerian: http://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/comment/articles/2015-01/26/the-truth-about-dan-bilzerian

Closer to Muttley's home, my daughter took gymnastics, and everyone just adored the coach.  I would sit and watch and wonder at how the young girls would just delight in his presence.  He was built like a tank, and I imagine the ladies fawned over him given his magnetic personality and good looks.

My daughter was heartbroken when he committed suicide.  Everyone around him was dumbfounded.  It made no sense.

Derek Jeter does pretty well on those criteria.  He was smart enough to hold off on getting married, too.

I mean, from Wikipedia:

He had a well-publicized relationship with singer Mariah Carey from 1997 to 1998. Jeter has also dated former Miss Universe Lara Dutta, singer Joy Enriquez, television personality Vanessa Minnillo, and the actresses Jordana Brewster, Jessica Biel, Minka Kelly, and Hannah Davis.

Does Cristiano Ronaldo count? All guys hate him cuz they're jealous and all girls love him. I don't think you can Google a model on the planet without Cristiano Ronaldo popping up right next to her name.

He's the top soccer player in the world currently (albeit he tussles with Messi for the top spot quite frequently)

Your criteria are ridiculous.  A humble person who leads a moral life and sacrifices wealth and fame for the benefit of others is far more desrerving of admiration than someone who, in your words, has "access to everything he wants with none of the responsibility."

That's may opinion, anyway.

Sorry, had to post it.

Yeah, it's a subjective ranking and criteria, but so be it.  For the sake of argument, Brady seems like a pretty humble guy all things considered; I'm guessing most of us would be raving ego maniacs if we had a supermodel wife, millions of dollars, an extremely successful career that takes on mythic portions if you think about it, good looks, a great second and third life ahead, etc.

Ha, that's pretty funny.

I understand where the OP is coming from and I'm not trying to ruin anybody's fun.  It's just that when I try to think of candidates for a "best male life" or something like that, I come up with names like Nelson Mandela (RIP) or John Paul Stevens--people who have done things of great significance for which they will be long remembered.

Tom Brady is a fucking boss though, I must admit.

This is absolutely asinine. If a man doesn't want power, money, and women then he simply doesn't produce enough of the correct hormones that make a man a man. These are the things that all men want but some realize that they'll never reach such a point so they brainwash themselves into this self righteous idea of what a person should be. Go pick up something heavy three times a week and get back to us.

Brady is up there but jury is out until we see how his post football life ends up. Is he crippled and using a cane to get around?

Tom Hanks is pretty awesome.
