Washington Post article on Nike's version of Michigan maize
The Washington Post has a brief article today on the version of maize that Nike will bring (or bring back) to Michigan.
Title: "Farewell, maize: Nike introduces a brand-new shade of yellow to Michigan."
Link: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/early-lead/wp/2016/07/20/farewell-m…
EDIT: The first commenter (not me, I swear) to the WaPo article: "It's not maize."
So the debate continues...
I knew you would know that.
[BMW's] logo still pays homage to their aircraft days with the white propeller moving across the blue sky.
Per this, that story about the BMW logo (which I had also heard) is not true: http://www.logodesignlove.com/bmw-logo-evolution
Bridgestone tires but now they make tires and golf balls. Why would you have a tire company's name on a golf ball
and some goalposts next to him, like he is dunking the football over the goal posts and its all about football again. Yeah, so whatya think guys, guys......guys............ah, hello........Why do I hear crickets?
Recruits like it, so we like it. Recruits like it, so we like it. Recruits like it so we like it. Recrui.....
Go Blue!
No one has ever been iconic enough in football to warrent that some have been close but like someone mentioned earlier Jordan is in the same teir as Ali or Pele. He's bigger than a generational or century athlete.

We will get off your lawn.
Jumpman is so much more than a basketball logo. Nike started out as a track and field company/logo and adidas started out as a soccer company and logo. Even UA started out as a football company and now they are big in hoops and everything else.
Jumpman has outfitted top players in basketball, football and baseball for many years. Jeter, Woodson, just to name a couple of Michigan guys.
think that some people, perhaps you included, associate the Jumpman with basketball only when, in fact, the transition to football will be the first move in what will likely become a comprehensive line of sports clothing and equipment. There was a time when it was comical to think of a Nike swoosh on a golf ball or a Puma on a golf glove. Before long, tennis players have Jumpman rackets and golfers will have the logo on their hat. I think that the Jumpman line will become a trend setting brand and that we are getting in at exactly the right time.
As a Pistons/Bad Boys fan, it is anathama to see Jordan on a Michigan jersey. He was a great player, but he wasn't my great player. ...and he travelled and got crazy favorable calls. If Jumpman helps us avoid getting kicked out of games for being pushed in the back then I'm all for it, but otherwise yuck! (and if recruits like it.)
transended rivalry. Aside from Muhammad Ali and perhaps Pele' he is the most iconic athlete to ever live. His logo denotes fierce competitiveness, unparalleled skill, and quite simply, winning.
The Bad Boys were great and I detested Jordan during that era for that reason, but come on man. It is Michael F-ing Jordan. His logo can go anywhere on my teams uniform.
I wouldn't want Sydney Crosby's logo on the basketball team's gear either.
because Sydney Crosby is a tool who cannot carry Michael Jordan's suitcase.
This.
If I could upvote, this would have claimed one this morning.
up vote this man to 100!
But Jordan isn't on Gretzky or Howe's level...
can't be serious. Hockey? Hockey vs. NBA in its glory years. Seriously, Hockey? Well, I guess there are about 150 people strong in the country who agree with you at least you have some support.
point was made by you how a basketball logo on a football jersey is ok because it's Jordan, even if you were a Piston's fan back in the day. Simply showing that some people may not agree. Chose Crosby because Detroit doesn't exactly love the guy.
Penguins should just confuse the hell out of everybody and have Crosby wear a Block M on his jersey.
Some "opinions" are actually facts. Crosby hasn't achieved in his sport what Michael Jordan did in basketball, and he also hasn't surpassed Howe or Gretzy. It's not about disagreement in this case. Some of those are icons. Crosby is a star. There's a difference. He might reach that level, but he hasn't yet.
The Rolling Stones are icons. If somebody wants to make a Rolling Stones restaurant or a Rolling Stones line of beer, then that has nothing to do with music, but okay. On the other hand, if somebody wanted to make a Mumford & Sons or Tegan and Sara restaurant or beer, I would probably laugh.
Jordan is a brand at this point. It's not a guy. It's not a sport. It's Easton moving into the hockey equipment market. It's Amazon moving into the streaming video service. It's an expansion of a brand.
It is hard to find an analogy because he was at that level but it is still putting your state's pro basketball teams rival on your football uniforms. I wouldn't let my kids wear Urban Meyer basketball shoes even if Nike told everyone he was super awesome.
because pro rivalries matter as much as college rivalries. I hate the packers but I would wear Aaron Rodgers gear if it looked sweet. This pretty much goes with any pro team but I can't even imagine wearing anything from a buckeye..it's just not the same.
Please remind me when the whole world was singing "I want to be like Wayne".
Michael Jordan was a global phenomenon. Something the NBA never had before him.
Canada called, they are offended
I'd advertise a Gordie Howe logo anywhere. Gretzky? Not so much... Guy didn't play a lick of defense...
that Magic Johnson was both more iconic and the better basketball player;
If Magic, then, had his own clothing line, would you be OK with the Michigan Football team wearing his logo?
I'm sure there are plenty of idiots arguing lots of dumb things, does not make them true. But if Magic Johnson developed the brand Jordan did, then yes I would not have a problem wearing it. I hated Jordan as a kid and yet when his shoes became a thing, I had to have them. Everyone had to have them, there hasn't been a comparable brand in athletic gear since Jordan's brand came into existance.
The Bad Boys made Jordan. The beatings he took made him get stronger to compete. If there were no Bad Boys Jordan would be a just another great player.

Suck it, Pistons fans!

Jordan brand cleats are already in Track, Soccer, Golf, Baseball and Football. Equipment used in Boxing and NASCAR. I think everyone needs to give it a year. If we win a national championship in Jordan brand uniforms, we will be bitching to switch back after an unsuccessful stint with Under Armor in 2035.
MJ was a iconic player, and Jumpman is an iconic brand. It's pretty cool Michigan gets to lead the pack in something that was so inevitable. People just hate new things. Especially Michigan fans. But at some point the Jordan brand was going to break into football and be one of the big players in the apparel market.
Nike is a track shoe company named after a Greek Goddess. Adidas is a Futbol outfitter. Puma track. Reebok track. Russell was womens and chilrens undergarments. Champion is owned by Hanes. And who wants to be outfitted by the same people who dress Notre Dame?

Sign me up for a Michigan jersey with a Charizard on it!
Tell me, WTF is a Charzard?
And then get off my lawn!
Thank you. You saved me from having to type the same thing.
And your lawn looks great. No doubt from keeping these young whippersnappers off it.
on top of an Irishman with his dukes up. It may not look right but it's cool bro.
