Walter Nolen down to 3, no

His final 3: Texas A&M, Florida, Tennessee.

Why is Michigan now out? Maybe this is why: his father had this to say about Michigan:

The article where the picture above comes from has Tennessee at #1 among the 3:

Rivals has him to Tennessee:

I never pictured him coming here, but I don’t know why he’d consider Tennessee. They are the Michigan of the SEC, a has been program down in the dumps, one that can’t beat its rivals, and is clinging to the past and a QB alum who excelled far more during his time in the pros than he ever did in college. The similarities are almost frightening with how close they are.

Only difference is they’re in even worse shape than us. They’ll be lucky to make bowl games in the 3-4 years he’d be there.

Well, I hate to tell you this, but Ohio St is ready to take Grant. He's local to there too. I really didn't like coming across this news, as I could see how excited Deone Walker was to get an offer from Alabama. I mean, who's left?

"Michigan Football: Wolverines aren’t in Walter Nolen’s new top 3"

As we have seen, different teams are capable of making a move in this recruitment, but at this point, it would probably be wise for the Wolverines to focus their energy on other targets.

One of those is three-star defensive tackle Kenneth Grant out of Indiana. Grant is strongly considering Michigan, Ohio State, and also Wisconsin. He has visited all three programs over the summer and Ohio State’s offer looms large in the process.

As always with Ohio State, it comes down to whether Grant would be a take. While he is down their board a little, EJ Holland of Rivals says he would be a take for Ohio State. However, Michigan is pushing harder right now and has been in this recruitment longer.

There's a short video clip at the link of Grant on a pass rush blowing over a block from a RB while laughing.

Bama was the one UM was worried about and neither are on his final list? Weird.

I doubt this is over for his recruitment but you can sure as shit guarantee UM is out of the race

Big Daddy explained why Michigan received a Dear John letter from Walter: “ Because they are up there in the North and we are down here in the South.” What he  really meant to say:”Michigan has a good program but it’s NIL is small potatoes compared to what Walter can get from SEC schools like Tennessee, Texas A and M and Florida.”

Honestly, how is anyone surprised by this? I’m sure he’ll end up being a good to great player that we may have a chance within the future, the the reality is we are not on that same field as the others recruiting him (with the odd exception of Tennessee, because, well …. Tennessee). Take care of business this year and we are squarely back in the mix for recruits like this again.

"They just are up north and we are down south"

We've heard recruits and their parents say things like this before, and I keep wondering if they really believe that one little foot-plus snow like we get most Januarys is the end of the world. That, and I wonder if they honestly fear a good cold snap, as in the variety where it is barely single digits for a week. There could also be a deeper, hidden meaning that I am not understanding, of course, for I don't really know the recruiting world that well.

Why keep TAM on your list, then, since that is much farther away than A2? Seems like he wants to stay in the SEC and that was the true meaning of it. If the place feels like home, then go home. I’m sure they could afford to rent a place in A2 with his NIL money to come.

I hope the staff continues to pursue him past his commitment, because it sounds like there’s a chance.

I mean none of you really thought UM had a chance?  If you did Sam really got ya….somehow he and Brice will still drag the Nolen recruiting corpse across the signing day line saying Michigan really finished 2nd…..

Never thought we were really in it. Just have to take our lumps right now, Harbaugh had to be extended, but his salary being halved is being used against us in recruiting. It’s put up this year and recruiting sees a bump or we get a new staff after this season.
I’m thinking 6-6 and we get a new staff, just not a very talented football team and the new schemes and staff aren’t upgrades and will take time.
Wait until we lose a couple guys we have committed, this place will melt down.

LSU and Bama have CFP championships to show recruits and hang their hats on. I just never see the point in complaining about Bama being “dirty” when Saban can wave 20 rings in a kids face and pretty much guarantee success and a pretty good draft position. UGA continually underachieves with top recruiting classes at an impressive rate. Not to mention they get some recruits other teams seem to back off of because said recruit needs some “strong-ass offers” to go to their school. I’m not saying they’re head and shoulders above those two, but they’re definitely way up there.
