Mike Valenti just told Michigan fans to turn up the volume because we're going to enjoy the next segment. So....here we go!!!

I both agree and disagree. Let's be honest -- when it was rumored Ferentz was a potential replacement for Carr, we all freaked out. Yes, Iowa performed well for several years with "sub-par talent." But he has not ultimately been very consistent -- just look at the past few years. To me, that says more about the talent he'd been working with being underrated than than him being a great coach. After all, he'd been working with players like Dallas Clark, Drew Tate, and Bob Sanders. Ferentz is probably a decent coach on multiple levels, but is he as good as his salary suggests? I don't think so.

...two main points of the rant: 1. Marky Mark better choose 1 QB. 2. DC Narduzzi and his assistants are awful. He invites Michigan fans to call in, saying: -- "Little Brother it Up"; -- "Same Old Sparty it Up". He closed by saying if State doesn't make some changes fast, they'll get rolled by Michigan and be lucky to win 4 games this season. Final words: "the collapse is underway." When it comes to football (pro or college), Valenti is the best. A Sparty partisan, yes, but he's absolutely brutal on them when they underperform. That's the opposite of a homer, IMHO.

I love listening to a Valenti, but he is totally a homer. The issue is that there are MSU fans that are blinded by their homerism. He doesn't miss a chance to rub it in with UM fans, though. Homer, but he runs an entertaining show. I'd love to have a beer with the guy.

the circus music is awesome...i just burst out laughing and got some looks at the library see, while valenti does get on my nerves now and then, i do like the fact that when his program deserves a ripping, he gives it to them.

I'm glad that some people are saying good things about him. Yes, he pisses me off all the time when talking trash about us, but for the most part, the man does know his football.

Can you not listen to them online anymore? I went on 97.1's website a week or to ago to try and find a live stream but there isn't one; I could've sworn they used to have it, but I might be imagining things, I dunno. Valenti was pretty insufferable with UM this past year...but just when you really think his head is up his ass he will do a 180. The tough guy thing gets old but he is pretty funny. Foster is a complete retard though, and always is.

Not sure where you're looking, but I've been listening online for the past few weeks. There should be a 'listen live' icon on the upper right side of the screen. Just click on that. Also, if you paste this into your browser, it should get you there directly: javascript:launchPlayer(2108,'wxyt');

Just a couple weeks ago, Valenti was running his big mouth about Michigan and Sparty. He said he LOVED beating Michigan last year and he'll enjoy beating them this year. His pre-season prediction for MSU was that they would win 9-10 games. When fans called in and asked him how MSU was going to win that many games with all the new positions they had to fill, he talked down to them like they were the dumbest bunch of morons on the planet. People reminded him of Sparty's history and he said, "We don't have to worry about 'SAME OLD SPARTY,' anymore with Dantonio as the coach. He laughed at all the Michigan fans who were worried before the Western game and said it would be hilarious to see the aftermath of a loss to the broncos...especially after that week where Rosenburg's article came out in the free press. The guy is a tool. His rants can be funny but for the most part, he's just a jackass who changes his tune every week. If MSU beats us this Saturday, he'll go right back to kissing Dantonio's ass.

Eh, he just likes to talk smack. If I had a radio show, I'd probably act the same way -- he sees it like it is, but when he has the opportunity, he talks smack. He makes no effort to hide his Sparty-ism, but he's not an idiot, outside of being abrasive to attract listeners. He knows how to run an entertaining radio show -- hell, his show was even more entertaining before the bigwigs at 97.1/1270 got their hands all over it. Used to love the "slider challenge" and stuff like it. He'll probably never have a national show, simply because the appeal of the show on 97.1 is how well it plays to the local rivalries, but I enjoy listening to him.
