The B1G might be even more of a punchline nationally after this bowl season, as if that is possible. Also do not like playing Johnny Football, and a team that beat Alabama.

Things will get better when we have Maryland and Rutgers.

5 Losses? Yay.

The bowls are not at all concerned with divisions. They are affiliated with conferences and will pick the best team available (not necessarily in terms of record) from that conference, regardless of division.
November 26th, 2012 at 6:48 PM ^
They aren't, but some bowls with SEC ties have tended to favour the East.
November 26th, 2012 at 8:04 PM ^
got any examples to back that assertion up?
November 26th, 2012 at 9:38 PM ^
My projections are based on the Capital One (Georgia) and Outback (South Carolina) bowls' historical tendencies to lean toward East Division teams. The Cotton has first choice after the Capital One and will almost certainly lock up West team Texas A&M -- unless the Orlando game gets Johnny Football Fever. In my scenario LSU slips to the Chick-fil-A Bowl, but the Tigers could well go to the Cotton or Outback. There's also the possibility that South Carolina could slip to the Gator Bowl, since the Chick-fil-A is obligated to take Clemson from the ACC.

Georgia missing from both analysts as a potential SEC vs Big-Ten match up...too bad, since I think that would be a fun game to watch
November 25th, 2012 at 8:57 PM ^
I'd rather not see that offense. If we thought NW was tough, this will be a whole different nightmare.
November 25th, 2012 at 8:57 PM ^
Johnny Football would make our destroy our "best passing defense in the country". But it would prolly be a good game to watch

I've seen us vs. LSU. I'd rather have that than Johnny Football.

My thoughts are this reminds me of an episode of Oz where a new inmate takes his first shower in prison. Here, the new inmate is the Big Ten, and the SEC is the biggest, baddest bully on the cell-block who also decided now is a good time for a shower. I don't have to tell you what happens next.

Yeah... we also had Henne at QB, Arrington and Manningham at WRs, Jake f-ing Long on the OL and Mike Hart at RB. Not to mention the other starters on the line that ended up playing a few NFL seasons. None of those guys are walking through that door.

Can anyone explain why is this listed among the "other matchups of note"?

Opponent from earlier this year.
November 25th, 2012 at 9:10 PM ^
Self imposed -1. (Said AFA was opponent)
November 25th, 2012 at 9:00 PM ^
First year I am considering cheering for everyone in the B1G to lose, other than Michigan of course.
Why? Because it will only make ohio's record/schedule look weaker, and will hurt them in any ranking systems that take strength of schedule into consideration. I really do not want any ranking service listing them as #1.

With the stipulation that you're leaving out Michigan, Nebraska seems like OSU only "quality" (sort of) win that migh move the needle slightly if they lose. And even then, probably not much. I don't thiink having the B1G get near skunked would be long run good for us.

I feel like Ron Swanson when Tammy 1 comes to town.

I guess I should start buying tickets to Disney World.

Oh lawd anyone but Johnny Football.
November 25th, 2012 at 9:05 PM ^
Get your Little Caesar's Pizza Bowl tickets immediately. With Northern Illinois against Middle Tennessee State or San Jose State, that thing will sell out in a heartbeat.

I know the OSU bowl ban is great and all, but I kind of wonder if maybe they should be sent to the Pizza Bowl instead.

georgia opens at clemson next year, so (as a georgia alum) i'm hoping this isnt the case.

Florida and LSU are teams that we could beat. A&M would be tough.
November 25th, 2012 at 9:19 PM ^
Anyone who thinks we could beat either Florida or LSU hasn't watched either of those teams play. What makes you think we could beat LSU, a team that nearly took down Bama, i.e, the team that prison-raped us earlier this year? And did you see the manhandling FSU's o-line experienced yesterday? I'm pretty certain Sherriff Floyd would buy a Bentley before the bowl game based on the additional signing bonus bounce he'd get after facing our o-line.
November 25th, 2012 at 9:24 PM ^
Can you seriously find no better description for a blowout football game than prison rape? This is the second mention to it you have made in this thread, and neither were funny, creative, nor terribly descriptive of what actually happened on the football field.

The Aggies scare me. I don't want any piece of the team that took it to Alabama. Then again Alabama/Georgia/South Carolina/LSU are not exactly cupcakes either. Scary situation for the bowl game. Go Blue beat the SEC!!
November 25th, 2012 at 9:19 PM ^
Pretty bold of Schlabach to pick Georgia over Alabama. I don't see it happening, but he probably knows a lot more about Georgia than I do.
November 25th, 2012 at 9:17 PM ^
We are highly unlikely to play them. Georgia, S. Carolina, LSU. Realistic.
