USA Today UM coaching rehash.
While there isn’t any breaking news in it, USA Today published an article detailing the coaching changes JH has made. It’s an ok read on a slow news day.

You shouldn't pay any attention to the Freep beat writer, he hates Harbaugh and UM. He's too stupid to understand that no one from the UM AD will let him near the coach or players. He puts articles together out of nothing.

I generally agree with this take, but it is interesting to note that Sabin went to Michigan.
February 11th, 2021 at 4:29 PM ^
It is even more interesting that someone named their kid “Rainer”.
February 11th, 2021 at 8:12 PM ^
"Rainman" was already taken.
February 12th, 2021 at 11:40 AM ^
Maybe it refers to how he was conceived. You know, like a nooner. It was foul weather when he was conceived, so he's the result of (and became) a rainer?

Who's Sabin? Do you mean Saban?
I skimmed the article and didn't see anything.
EDIT: NM, stupid me, Sabin is the writer, duh.
February 11th, 2021 at 5:02 PM ^
He went to Arkansas
February 11th, 2021 at 6:46 PM ^
Believe it or not, you are thinking of a different Rainer Sabin (shocking, but there are two!)
February 11th, 2021 at 9:29 PM ^
There may be more than one however, the Freep beat writer is an Arkansas alum.
February 11th, 2021 at 6:58 PM ^
interesting to note that Sabin went to Michigan.
So did Drew Sharp and he's pure trash.
February 11th, 2021 at 8:42 PM ^
Yes - but Sharp is now past tense. He was awful.
February 11th, 2021 at 4:36 PM ^
Yeah, Sabin is a prick and a hack.
February 11th, 2021 at 5:02 PM ^
2nded
February 11th, 2021 at 6:00 PM ^
Thirded. You can tell by story titles which are his. Hack hit pieces... Typical Freep...
February 11th, 2021 at 8:43 PM ^
Freep remains the jealous propagandist voice for a fanbase that’s primary characteristic is rationalizing their bitterness towards the elite school down the road.

Great take!!!!

Harbaugh is catnip to the college football media. Unfortunately JH has not won any kind of title and has not beaten OSU. Yes he keeps getting press. He has way toned down the "in your face" style, like the regional camps in SEC country, doing recruiting sleepovers, etc. He looks stone faced most of the time on the sidelines. I mean, he's just not that compelling a story. And yet he gets all this attention.
February 11th, 2021 at 4:57 PM ^
Harbaugh is more like hookers and blow to the college football media.
February 11th, 2021 at 7:01 PM ^
Ha.
True.
re: Joel Klatt freaking gushing over M after the Minny game. "The offense is back." "They're the real deal."
February 11th, 2021 at 4:36 PM ^
Well, it was probably either this or the human interest story about the guy that nailed his hand to a wall stud. Slow news day indeed.
February 11th, 2021 at 5:11 PM ^
I personally keep waiting for the "OT: RIP Larry Flynt" thread. The guy was a champion in defense of the 1st amendment and was also well-known for something else that I just can't remember right now. I'm sure I'll think of it...
February 11th, 2021 at 8:15 PM ^
Larry Flynt is alive and well. I saw Keith Jackson talking to him this afternoon.

RAINER IS BANNED HERE
February 11th, 2021 at 5:00 PM ^
Rainer Sabin's onus is his anus.
February 11th, 2021 at 5:57 PM ^
Indeed, know your blog
February 11th, 2021 at 9:17 PM ^
This is an honest question, I hope no one here takes it as an OSU fan "trolling" a UM blog.. because I genuinly enjoy some of the discourse here.
Is it weird to anyone that particular UM beat writers or fans are banned strictly because of their name, and not from individual pieces of content? I understand some content comes off as a hit piece, but often times there are some truth nuggets to be had in those as well.. just seems odd discussion is banned before any of your fanbase can weigh in on it strictly because of the person who published it.
This also applies to OSU as well.. I always see it and assume our fans just aren't comfortable reading criticizm of the team, even if it's warranted.
February 11th, 2021 at 9:54 PM ^
The rationale is that some writers (such as Sabin or the late Drew Sharp) are essentially trolls, who generally write veiled or not-so-veiled hit pieces. They generate revenue from hate clicks by Michigan fans, and of course Michigan State fans love to read anything knocking down Michigan.
I think this is a result of having Michigan and Michigan State sharing the same state. While there are certainly a lot of universities in Ohio (I went to Miami NTM), none of them are in the same conference as Ohio State and none of them having anything resembling the relationship between Michigan and Michigan State.
The moderator sticky thread (see here) has details at the very top.

Appreciate the background and the link.. +1 for you sir.
Also a Miami (OH) grad.. love and honor.

Only feel I got for this is that JH is flat out rolling the dice with all of these young guys coaching positions and calling plays for the first time. It moved me an extra foot down in the BPONE.
February 11th, 2021 at 10:01 PM ^
They might be good moves long term, but they are curious inasmuch as JH may run out of runway before he gets them off the ground.
February 11th, 2021 at 4:48 PM ^
Deserved or not this guy is alway on the attack and has a hard-on for Harbaugh. This ass-hack is nothing but a tabloid writer straight from SEC country and is trying to make name for himself on his "Midwest Stop".
February 11th, 2021 at 5:04 PM ^
At one point I was ready to move on from the banning of FREEP stories. Sang has made me change my mind. He really is a biased asshole.
February 11th, 2021 at 5:05 PM ^
This newspaper will be out of business in 1.5 years. It’s pure shit
