And many more to follow. A huge emphasis has been placed on the Olympic sports and improving the facilities and venues across campus.

They do.  For better or worse, the things that come to mind for Stanford Athletics are:

1.  Jim Harbaugh used to coach their and built their football team.

2. The Cal run back.

3.  The swimmer who got probation

4.  McCaffery

5.  Tiger Woods used to play there

6.  Director's cup winners.

7.  Bill Walsh and Dennis Green

8. The Michigan fullback who transferred there and then played in the pros.

Women's BBall should be able to put up some points in the near future. Would be nice if M/W Lacrosse were further along at this point, too.

Guess they had a good overall year, aside from MBB. That and they've really taken big steps over the last few decades to improve their academic image.

No one will ever mistake it for Michigan, Cal Tech or UCLA, but it's a great school now in its own right.

If OSU is now a "great" academic institution, literally every other mainstream state school is "great". OSU is at about the same academic level as Florida, Minnesota, Maryland, Arizona, and Rutgers. OSU is academically "solid", but not great.

As for the director's cup, OSU has become very strong in the country club sports as well. Michigan is strong in the Olympic Sports, but OSU is very strong in both Men's and Women's tennis, and they won the Big Ten in women's golf as well. Obviously, OSU is also very strong in football (football didn't help us out last year for these standings). Also, baseball underperformed for Michigan and over performed for OSU, and arguably softball should have gotten more points (we finished in a tie for 5th in Softball; making the top 4 would've yielded more points).

Michigan has been very strong in running (track and XC) and pool events (swimming for both genders, and water polo). If football can emerge as a sport to start winning points, and baseball, basketball and soccer start doing a little better, we should be golden.

Anyone else a little surprised Pitt is the worst P5 school? They pretty much only got points for being invited to a bowl game and barely making March Madness... They're almost 30 spots below Rutgers.
