U-M's Marching Band Holding Camp at Paramus, Too

Submitted by BursleyHall82 on

Hey, New Jersey! We're coming for your trumpeters and tuba players, too! The Paramus satellite camp will also feature band directors from the Michigan Marching Band. Oh, and also our cheer and lacrosse coaches. Satellite camps for them, too.

We're coming for everyone, New Jersey. Everyone.

Harbaugh should just buy a house in New Jersey and have somebody stationed there permanently. As an East coaster, I can attest to there being some gorgeous neighborhoods in that state.

This is the next stage-have camps that cover multiple sports and activities.  It further builds on the notion that these camps provide information, training and inspiration to kids interested in all sorts of activities.  Good for the kids, builds the Michigan brand, niot football centric, and very few schools have the interest or resources to try to match.   Brilliant.

We actually have had a few trombonists in the MMB from New Jersey. In 2012 and 2014, the line leaders of Rank D (the short line that forms the serif of the Block M) were from NJ. So that state does have some good recruits.

Of course, Rank D is also known as the short bus, so maybe not...

Chris Ash to hold a rally for Jersey musicians to have state pride and avoid anything Michigan. Then tries to go the Greg Sankey route and work to restrict marching band directors from leaving their states.

Warning...human interest story:

For hiding stuff from US customs.  I was in a youth concert band that toured Europe the summer of 1978.  We bought switch blades and ballistic knives in Austria and hid them in the tubas for the trip home.
