TomVH: Cyrus Hobbi Update
I hadn't been in contact with Cyrus Hobbi in awhile, but I spoke with his head coach today and he updated me about where Cyrus is at.
Cyrus is wide open right now, and he plans on announcing his decision at the Under Armour All American game. Michigan has done a great job recruiting him, and he was really impressed with his unofficial visit. He's trying to schedule an official visit out there right now, but that probably won't be until after our season.
Hobbi's team is 6-2 with 2 games left, and then they head to the playoffs, so it may be awhile before he takes the visit. His coach also updated me on a 2012 prospect on their team, that happens to be Cyrus' best friend, DJ Foster.
Foster is a 5-foot-10, 180-pound athlete that plays both ways for Saguaro. Coach Sanders said he's a lock down corner, and probably the best athlete he's had in a long time. Michigan hasn't offered yet, but they are hoping to get one from Michigan soon. UCLA, Oregon State, ASU, and Arizona have all verbally offered so far. He's a name to keep an eye on.

How many prospects do we have in the Under Armour game?

i know he's listed as a guard, but will he definitely stay there or does he have OT potential?

The Coaches have said they like for the lineman to learn all the positions so I'm sure they'll see where he fits in best.

ND stopped recruiting him because they viewed him as only a guard

Hey Irish, are you guys still looking at Lyons? I thought we didn't make the cut, but he might take an official here.

Yeah ND is likely a leader if not the leader for him. He has OV'd already and is planning on bringing his mom up for a visit after the season

Thanks Irish. I thought you guys had the better shot with Lyons and we had the better shot with Walls. I am starting to worry about Walls after his trip to Oregon.

walls isn't a ND target that I am aware of so I would expect you're right. Lyons is the only DB with an actionable offer for ND right now it appears; quincy aldridge may get a spot at the end of the year but its pretty unlikely that spot doesn't get moved to another position.

False, all your Lyons our ares!

I was really excited with his comments about his unoffical and thought we had a decent shot for the kid. Since then Cyrus' name has been barely mentioned. Nice to see the coaches are still working hard on him. This would be a great addition IMO. Hopefully, he makes it here on an official and the staff closes the deal. A major bonus if a 2012 lock down corner can be included.

Gotta love all the possibilities that this class still has at this point in the season. Even if the coaches miss on a majority of top prospects left on the board we can still make a great class. Hopefully we get some wins and all these players want to join the action.

I was thinking more

if Michigan lands, Chris Bryant and possibly Cyrus. Do they push Posada out of the picture with his recent knee problems?
October 29th, 2010 at 10:15 PM ^
may be plausable but that does not seem to be this staffs track record. But who knows? I would hope not since Posada is probably a redshirt candidate as most O linemen are.

So, I take it Cyrus isn't coming for this week's game. Does that mean he's coming for UW?
Or is he going to official at the Big Chill like some of the other recruits?
Thanks Tom!
