Today's Steve Wiltfong crystal ball picks
It is late and I figured there are others roaming the board when they should be sleeping/working.
This is not your typical crystal ball thread. Steve Lorenz recently pointed out that Steve Wiltfong (lead writer at 247) is a ballz picker (lol) whose predictions fans should pay attention to. He has many connections in the recruiting circuit, and he also has reason due to employment to only make predictions when he has legit info. He is also the most accurate active predictor on 247's site from what I can gather.
Today he put in crystal ball picks to Michigan for both Chase Allen (3* TE from Missouri) and Donald Stewart (3* WR from New Jersey, who is Rashan Gary's teammate). Allen visits Ann Arbor on January 15, and Stewart visits on January 22.

I am hoping we can get Asiasi. I'd rather pass on the project TE Allen.

if Allen just might turn out to be a better TE after a couple of years on campus, especially with this staff, these guys know what they are doing and it all starts with the HC,

Allen isn't much of a project. He needs to gain weight, but that can be done his freshman year.
The guy would be rated higher if he hadn't skipped camps for AAU basketball.

Just because he's rated higher doesn't mean otherwise.

Hey it's a Brand New thread. Thanks for sharing. I know Stewart was waiting to see if he could get into Stanford so maybe it doesn't look like he will. Michigan's been after him for a while so I can't see it as bad thing if he ends up getting the spot over Pie Young.

Incorrect, that was just a Hollywood movie set. +1 for Clarence Beeks and anything to do with Trading Places.

We're putting a great class together, but I agree that we won't end up #1 even with Gary. If GA finishes with the players that they are favored for they will likely have the #1. They already have 2 5*'s (both top 10 players), and favored for 3 more. Also favored for 3 more 4*'s.

we have the #1 class or the #5 class. Basically, any class in the top 5 or so is so good, that what really will make the main difference is how the players develop during their careers. The main caveat would be if say the #1 class had several of the really elite, difference makers that don't come along all the time. Rashan Gary sounds like one of those guys.

Did you watch his tape? The yguy can catch! He is fast! He is an athlete! He has a lot of upside . . . my prediction is All Big Ten by time he is done!

I completely agree, unless he goes somewhere else. In which case he has questionable hands! His 40 time gets five fakes our of five! He's not very athletic anyway! He's already close to his ceiling! Probably a fringe Big Ten/MAC level player at best!
