Today's Schedule of Games

Today: the championship games of the Big Ten, ACC, SEC, Big 12, American Conference, and the Commander in Chief's Trophy.

At noon, the Big Ten Championship game: Northwestern - Ohio State. GO CATS!!  (Humblebrag: my son just got accepted to Northwestern last night, so now I have a team to root for in this game, not just a team to root against.)

Also at noon, in case the Big Ten Championship game gets boring because Northwestern is blowing out Ohio State, the Big 12 Championship game: Oklahoma - Iowa State.  Iowa State has not won a conference championship since before the World War . . . World War I.  I'm rooting hard for Iowa State, but Oklahoma looks like they are doing that thing they always do where they sleepwalk through a couple of Big 12 games in the season and lose them, but then they show up fully engaged and ready to go in the Big 12 Championship game.  Iowa State has an uphill climb today.

In the afternoon, the ACC Championship game.  I'm not one of those people who thinks that Notre Dame should be in the CFP even if they lose.  They beat a depleted Clemson team at home.  If a full-roster Clemson wins convincingly today, Notre Dame should be out and some other worthy team that might not typically be considered should get in.  Hey, it's 2020.  There are no rules.

Also in the afternoon for the traditionalists, the Commander in Chief's Trophy: Army - Air Force.  I'm going with Army for the crown.

In the evening, the SEC Championship game: Alabama - Florida.  Florida threw away their chance (literally) for a CFP spot, by losing to LSU last week on a shoe-throwing personal foul penalty that kept LSU's final scoring drive alive at the end of the game.  They need their heads fully in this game to have a chance against Alabama.  Will they after blowing their chance last week?  I doubt it, Tide rolls.

Also in the evening, the American Conference Championship game: Cincinnati - Tulsa.  If Cincinnati wins this and goes undefeated, I would put them in the CFP no matter what happens in the other games.  I once went to a Penn State - Cincinnati game in 1991 where Penn State beat Cincinnati 81-0, and the game wasn't even as close as the score.  To see Cincinnati in the CFP would be just incredible.

Late night, your Pac 12 After Dark Special - wacky, meaningless football just for the fun of it: Arizona State at Oregon State.

Gotta say: with a shitty B1G championship game on tap (remember the outcome when these two teams played for it previously?), I’m all about the hoops at noon. Iowa v. Gonzaga should be a fun one, with the two top-ranked offenses going at it.

We're all Northwestern fans today. Some of us because we have a Northwestern degree, some of us because a son was just admitted, some of us because we admire the school's academic standards, and the rest of us because ... because ... well, we hope for miracles.

Make sure you watch our next coach, Matt Campbell win a Big 12 Championship. He will be announced sometime in January once Harbaugh leaves for the NFL.

Having an informal agreement with Campbell, parting ways with Harbaugh, and then having Campbell back out because he just won the B12 w/ ISU would be the most Michigan football outcome imaginable.

The big ten so stupid they can’t even change the look of the colts field like how a title game usually is. this is a championship game?

As I watch the BTN preview of the impending slaughter of Northwestern by OSU, I find myself getting angry about BTN alignment. Pat Fitzgerald is 0-7 against OSU. But is at his second BTN championship game. All because he is in the West division. There have been numerous times that we have beaten Northwestern only to lose to OSU. It would be much less painful to lose to OSU in Indianapolis as the West representative and go to a prime bowl game like the Rose Bowl.

And Iowa-Gonzaga in basketball at noon is going to be must see TV as well.

I expect this to live up to the billing with two talented, well coached teams. Unlike the brutal Kansas-Kentucky game earlier this month which featured two distinctly non-well coached teams.

We all knew the Big Ten and the college football playoff are huge hypocrites but holy hell it is really coming out this year. How is 22 players out not enough for the Big Ten to cancel the game? OSU hasn’t looked that good and struggled against Indiana but somehow the committee has said they passed the “eye test?” Don’t piss on my leg and tell me it is raining. What a joke.

Congrats m-dog.  Love the cats.  Older brother just texted me a pic of him in his northwestern letter jacket.

Both teams in the B10 championship look like they're in a different stratosphere from us.  They're playing fast and confident.  They look ready for this game and seem to know the stakes.  They line up and look like they know the play, and their offenses line up with real tempo (especially OSU).  Even on Northwestern, everybody out there is playing fast and flying around.  Why the hell doesn't Michigan ever have this intensity and swagger?
