TicketWatch- The Game

Submitted by RealElonMusk on November 22nd, 2023 at 1:50 PM

I've been tracking sets of tickets between the 30s and below row 60 and it looks like prices are coming down every day.  I need 6 tickets total and will likely end up with 3 sets of 2 tickets.

I'd be curious if the consensus is that prices will keep falling- I don't see anything changing that is likely to increase demand between now and Saturday.

I like to be around row 26-   Would like to have other's opinions on sitting closer or further away.

I was in a box for the ND at OSU game last year and it's a great view of the whole field but the seats are equivalent to top row so the players looked faaaar away

I'm looking for a single ticket, and the cheapest options seem to have been holding steady at around $600 including fees.  I'm going to hold out a little longer and keep looking, but at some point for me the risk of getting locked out of decent options will outweigh the chance of finding something a little cheaper.

I tried that strategy last year for the game vs. MSU. There were a number of other people trying the same thing, and the scalpers were not budging. They know what they have. Eventually I got in by buying a student ticket, but not until the second quarter.

I think this approach would have better success if you can buy directly from another ticket holder that has an extra, except while people are coming in, not after kickoff.

Also, paper tickets are more scarce. I bought a screen shot that was texted to me and trusted that the code was still good. Fortunately, it worked.

I just bought tickets up in a 600-section for $120+fees. I just want to get in the door.

I can't imagine the ticket price will plummet in any specific scenario.

FWIW, Purdue prices went up at the end of the week and day of the game. I had originally sold my four as a set, but then wanted to take my son only to be priced out. Weather and night game may have been a factor for that game.

Seems to me the Wednesday before the event is usually the low point, but not sure how that gets impacted by the holiday and ESCHATOLOGICAL SIGNIFICANCE of the event in question

I actually prefer around row 50 than around row 25.  You lose a little perspective when the action is at other parts of the field when you are around row 25.  Around row 50 is a sweet spot, good view of everything while still feeling part of the action and not distant from it.

I am in row 33 near the north goal line across from the students and I love the elevation of my seats. Much lower and I'd lose view of the corner down the sideline from us. Higher would be ok too.

I switched to Seatgeek since that will let the buyers get the tickets without having to depend on me transferring them. I was worried that they may not get as many views as Stubhub and that it would be harder to sell there, but I haven't had any problems selling my extra tickets there. (I am sure that how well the team is doing helps.)  The only annoying thing is that they adjust the listed price the buyers see, so it takes a little trial and error to determine how the price will compare to others in your section.  I was surprised that their recommended price for the Purdue game that I listed a month ahead of time sold within a day, because I thought all of the ticket prices were crazy high given the expected level of the opponent.  (This was around the level of the MSU game the year before. I think Parent's weekend helped with that sale.)

I like sitting further away.  I like to see the plays develop.  Best seats I have ever had were near the 50 but in row 90.  That was Nebraska's first trip to the Big House.

Worst seats I ever had were for a Penn St game where I was around the 10 yard line, 3rd row.  Really hard to see from there, unless the action was down near my end zone.  I've also sat on the 50 about row 10.  I didn't love those seats either.

I was in Section 10 (corner end zone) for 64 for Purdue a few weeks ago and I really liked that view.

Can any students or recent grads tell me (pretty please) how closely they look at Mcards at entry?  The validation fee is not cheap this year and I was able to get some student tickets. Graduated a few years ago. Still have my Mcard.

I've been watching prices on multiple sites over the past few weeks trying to find tickets. Here is my observation - your experience may vary.

Prices jumped up after the Penn State game and held steady and spiked again briefly around the Maryland game. Prices have started to drop over the last 24 hours; however, the number of tickets available is steadily dropping as well.

There is activity on the Alumni Ticket Exchange board - most willing to offer the market price without the broker fees, so if you are an alum, I recommend checking that out. I was able to purchase tickets from a kind, unselfish alum well below what I would have paid on Seatgeek, StubHub, and TixPick. These are the folks who are keeping Buckeye fans out of the Stadium. The University should be doing more to keep the tickets in house and minimize the need for a broker.

Just a heads up - looking at Seat Geek right now it seems like some of the tix I'm interested in have dropped a bit.

Might be worth a look for others who are waiting until the last minute.
