I rememeber wearing Fab5 shorts during the spring of 1992. they were huge and my teenage legs were like two white stalks of baby bamboo. I wore black socks and listened to rap, and it was OK! I was safe.
and I ate a PB Maxx.

Hey, its almost basketball season. We had a nice Bacari Alexander tweetblitz this morning and basketball practice officially starts on Saturday. A few question marks this year, but I am excited to see how the freshman play and how Walton and Irvin develop.

What kind of depraved, soulless bastard does it take to downvote this??

WHO THE FUCK DOWNVOTED THIS??????????????????

I love Denard as much as (almost) anyone, but I'd hardly qualify his time at Michigan as "The Good Days" for UofM football.

Last win over OSU? Last win over MSU?
October 1st, 2014 at 11:48 AM ^
That kind of cements my point. During his four years we only beat Ohio State once and MSU once. By Michigan standards, that's abysmal. Yes the two years since he left have been worse than his last two years (last year was probably a bit better than first two seasons), but that doesn't mean that his whole tenure were the "good years" by any measure (with the exception of 2011, which was a very good season, albeit a fluke-y one)

But he arrived during the program's darkest hour (well, at the time) and was the single most important player in dragging us back to relevance. He put the team on his back, doh.

Not football, but still brings happy thoughts.

Someome gave my Mom and me great tickets to the '91 Ohio game. I still remember his punt return; mmm, warm fuzzies.

Man that was fun!
I will be at Rutgers to cheer them on Saturday! I just can't stay away.

One of the all-time great Michigan performances.

We kicked the living shit out of them!

Ditto. I was sitting in the student section and their silence was EPIC. So much fun. I'll never forgetting watching Woodson on offense on our end flash open down the middle for that TD pass. The facepalm meter was at 10/10 in the stands after that one! LOL

I like this game.
October 1st, 2014 at 10:32 AM ^
While the skyboxes are great to look at, there was just something so classic about the way the stadium used to look. And look at that student section!!!!!
October 1st, 2014 at 10:56 AM ^
Unacceptable.
(I was likely in the section)
Was this game v NTM in '04?
October 1st, 2014 at 11:05 AM ^
Couldn't be, the band wasn't moved into the student section until later. I think it's '06 Wisconsin.

You're right. Shame on me.

The empty spots next to the press box were obstructed view seats that were never sold. If you went up there, there weren't even seat numbers on the benches.
October 1st, 2014 at 1:17 PM ^
...feels good to know the answer to that riddle, to be there before the two towers (which are VERY nice). I've sat in those seats for a half after sneaking into Michigan Stadium...we'd sit up there and then move down at halftime after scoping out empty seats from season ticket holders.
Damn I miss it. I even remember the smell and the taste of the nasty ass watered down hot chocolate that I'd always get then complain about. Tear.

In good Mitch McGary news, new teammate Kevin Durant had this to say about Mitch, which I think just is prime Mitch McGary, the one we all know and love,
“He was on the other side of the court, screaming: ‘Good shot, Kev!’” Durant said, shaking his head in delight. “I’m thinking, this guy’s an All-American type of teammate right there.”
I can just picture Kevin Durant chuckling to himself after having Mitch yell compliments across the gym and it's a magical scene in my head.

Remember when we used to beat Notre Dame 38 to 0, and theyd' flail around in losing season after losing season, ushering a parade of incompetant coaches in and out the door?
Good times.
October 1st, 2014 at 10:47 AM ^
Well, they only beat us 31-0 so at least there's that.

I don't know about you, but I was always waiting for Jason Kapsner to make a dark horse run for the starting job. Those two other guys? Meh.

4th and 1, Grbac to Howard in the end zone. I will never forget the collective gasp that went up in the student section (and probably the stadium) when Grbac lofted a pass instead of handing off for the expected, sure 1 yd smash through the line. And I certainly won't forget the electric cheer when Howard caught it for 6. Of all the things that play came to signify, it also showed that we were expanding on the foundation the Bo left. An expansion that would continue on, right? Right?

Although they originally posted it for 2012's ND game, MVictors actually reposted the article with Moeller's headset audio as well as Moeller and Holtz breaking down the catch. That link is here - LINK. THe full breakdown is a bit lengthy, but it is an interesting listen all the same.
