Taulia Tagovailoa reaggrevated sprained MCL, gametime decision for this week
Potentially great news for both Taulia and Maryland. UMD hosts Northwestern this week and has a bye next week before a 3 week stretch of @ Wisconsin, @ PSU and vs OSU. Hopefully Taulia can get healthy before that’s stretch starts so UMD can pull some upsets against PSU and OSU.

Personally I like this kind of message board news too over the daily fan snowflake threads / random thoughts. More substantive and not quite mainstream enough to be on most sport outlet front pages

I thought the backup was pretty good (nice scrambler and decent passer) vs. us in the 4Q. Go with him vs. the worst NW team since the early 1980s and give Taulia the full two week off to rest and recover and rehab.

Against Northwestern, I feel like Maryland will be fine without Tagavailoa. Let the kid rest and get the backup(s) some meaningful snaps against a really really bad team.
NU is 97 in SP+, 103 in FPI, and 118 in the Massey composite.

The good news is that he’s questionable for this week, not that he’s injured. He was thought to be out for the season. It’d be like JJ going out on a stretcher and 2 days later being considered possibly still able to play that week. That would, in fact, be good news.
