Students / Loans / Interest

Submitted by lostwages on March 13th, 2020 at 4:46 PM

Wow kiddos, you just got a huge bone...I'm pretty impressed, since I didn't get student loan interest waivers or anything of the such during 911.

Furthermore, for the sports fanatics on this sports forum, this is uncharted territory and amazing that the leadership of this country was able to engage the private sector, abolish and rewrite laws on the books only within a few days. Guess what... there will be testing centers for you in a couple weeks.

Holy cow... maybe the sports events will only be pushed off a couple weeks. Wouldn't that suck for all of those doomsday people who hate our leadership and think that the world should go up in flames, because we've got a vendetta?!

Damn... a freakin' GOOGLE WEBSITE is being development for all of the idiots out there who can't stay off of social media, or read a book, or find a library. And for those fat lazy people who don't want to get out of their McDonalds mobile, they'll be able to sit their ass right in a car and get tested.

What more could us lazy Americans want? I mean, besides torching the current administration.

Please esplain Lucy... what does this "boomer" mean...?

'76 so that'd make me a gen-x'er, and as a long haired liberal musician for the first part of my life... I think that makes you a complete fuckin' idiot right?

Dude, I'm just now seeing your awesome original post. It made my morning. You're exactly what I had in mind when I commented on jmblue's diary ("... learning from the example of Europe ...") a few minutes ago.

Seriously though digship... a google fuckin website, to hand hold people, and engagement of the worlds largest diagnostics and logistics firms in the Pharm world.

I voted independent, but I'll be damned if I've ever seen such a mobilization in my lifetime!

Because other administrations would have had millions of kits ready? Especially Obama in his "we are the world" mentality? ROFLMAO

Hey... though this Administration did say they'd be able to get them asap... ya can't just magically make them appear, it takes the resources of those private sector folks to make that happen.

Secondly, the tests do all of JACK & SHIT... so you've got the virus, there's no fuckin cure, jokes on you. What... are you gonna go on Facey-space or Twittler-Wink and brag or seek sympathy because you've got it? Regardless if you have the flu or Covid19 your ass should be at home in bed, and you should be washing your hands and cleaning up after yourself.

Ok... now I'll stop being logical...

It is quite clear that being logical is not a requirement to graduate from Hopkins.   One tests so that others who may have been exposed can quarantine themselves.   Or, in an example you might be able to relate to, so that if you are asymptotic but have it, you can stop shaking hands with all the experts who need to be focusing on solving this crisis and can’t afford to get sick.

Further, since Obama put in place an apparatus to deal with this that Trump disassembled, it is probably safe to assume that he would have gotten a quicker start on the testing that so many other countries have been able to do.

Absolutely... and tests are not absolute either... I guess they don't teach 'logic at Michigan'. Since you believe that tests will always yield an absolute result at anyone one given point in time. Medical tests don't work that way my friend.

Actually Obama n co commissioned antiviral drugs and test kits en masse within 1 month of the initial swine flu outbreak in Mexico/Cali with the first state of emergency in April 2009. He then commenced a second one in October when the numbers of infected passed 1 million in the fall.

Wish we had him running this fiasco actually.

Why does it take resources of the private sector to make testing happen? The US government has more resources and a larger reach than any private company.

What leads you to the conclusion the tests do jack shit? By that logic lets not test people for AIDS and just ignore the problem and hope it goes away. There are things that can be done to treat it. There is no "corona cure pill" but that doesn't mean there aren't treatment options. And more importantly testing allows for isolation measures to prevent the spread. Testing is part of getting back to normalcy.

You're just butt hurt about your portfolio doing poorly so you're throwing a tantrum using some bullshit talking points you heard from Alex Jones. The "doomsday Dems" as you put it didn't put Italy and Wuhan on lockdown. They didn't invent a virus to take down Trump. And they didn't tank the stock market. You can blame "the media" for causing an unsubstantiated panic, but all of the nonsense you're posting is also completely unsubstantiated. You're no better than the media with all your scorching hot takes that have no basis in either logic, science, or public health.

the administration had nothing to do with diagnostic tests being developed

They started working on this in Jan when China released Coronavirus information to the world... this administration was caught off guard, clearly, science was not

At least they had the sense to fast track approval of the new test, which was basically a no brainer since the analytical equipment used for the test is already readily available in many hospitals

Don't deny science at every turn and then try to steal credit when It succeeds to improve society in spite of your ignorance

Baby boomers are directly responsible for the greatest transfer of wealth from young to old people in human history, and you're upset about a temporary reprieve for student loan interest?

You misunderstand my tone McCunty...

I was elated and pleased, it's more than I ever got, I'm happy for the youngins! Your current leadership just lifted a weight off of your shoulders, which is what they're supposed to do.

By the way "Shaft" says hello... get it... your name...

Real talk here, you seem to reference having graduated from Hopkins in about 90% of your posts.  Is that some sort of appeal to authority for your nonsense ideas?  Are you hoping that impresses people?  That maybe their world class hospital confers some sort of luster to some dude like yourself that majored in interpretive dance 30 years ago?

I didn’t know Trump’s forgotten son, Eric is it, tries another route at impressing daddy—shitposting is not going to work despite the fact that daddy likes gold toilets. In fact, that gold just makes him flush his massive shits six or seven times in one sitting (or should we say one tweetstorm).

You’ve accomplished looking like a dumbass and and ass. That’s upping the game around here. (I’ll never read your reply because you’re persona non grata—just wanted to harmonize with the chorus.)

I like how this is being phrased as some great benevolence and not just, like, the bare minimum required to make sure the working class doesn't die if they can't work.

Hell, Republicans are still blocking the bill that would guarantee paid sick leave, affordable testing, and lunches for poor school students.

Edit: In actuality, while this is nice, lots of members of the working class don't have college degrees and thus have no government student loans to have interest on (also interest rates are VERY low right now so it's not as large of a benefit as it seems on its face). What they could really use would be guaranteed sick leave/paid leave if their workplace goes on hiatus. Y'know, stuff that's in the bill that Republicans are blocking.

Right, it was the doomsday dems and not the fact that this administration's roll out of diagnostic testing made Katrina look well-organized. If only Obama hadn't slashed CDC funding and fired the U.S. Pandemic Response Team. Wait...

Nothing to rise to the level of impeachment.  He wanted influence peddling looked into (which, let’s be honest, most politicians are guilty of). Certainly not as serious as the former President spying on him and getting shoddy FISAs to do it.
