May want to point out that this did happen a very long time ago. Article says the university sold the property in 2005

A bunch of Thousandaires, worrying about a billionaires taxes. There's a trust in there, somewhere. Just wow.

I'm guessing Billionaire Stephen Ross doesn't lose more than 5 minutes of sleep over this.

There are a lot of really clever tax lawyers out there. Ross, I am certain, has more than his share. When all the facts come out, if ever they do, and we hear his side of the story, the likely result is that a clever tax lawyer got a bit too aggressive in his advice, not that there was any effort to violate the law. To talk about someone going to jail, as the Florida guy did, based on one side of the story is just absurd.

Not great to hear. I love Stephen Ross and his great kindness to UM but it sounds like there needs to be a serious increase in clarity, communication, organization, and planning between both parties when dealing with such money.

Why does the article refer to the expert as a "tax law author". Is he a member of Congress?
