Spring Ball to Partially Take Place in FL?

Submitted by Moe on

Very interesting tweet from Balas today, and I'm sure this will be something the SEC will try to shut down immediately.  Never even knew this was possible.

Several tell us Jim Harbaugh will have the 2016 U-M team spend a week of spring ball in Fla. https://t.co/b9ZGYRn6oO pic.twitter.com/c9EY3HaR6p

I like the way you think! This would make a lot of sense but I'm guessing that might have a lot of hoops to jump through to make that happen. If it were the Ravens things might be different as that is family. I am sure Ross is considered a booster.

I always felt like harbuagh wanted to be back at michigan, but I am just shocked as to how wrong the faction of people that were saying "he doesn't like college/doesn't like recruiting" are. It is blatantly obvious that he loves everything about what he is doing about coaching at michigan and it has exceeded even my best expectations.

Probably a great idea from a team bonding and chemistry perspective, and even a recruiting perspective.  One of many great things about Coach Harbaugh, he is always innovating and trying to find ways to make the team better.

One that hasn't been mentioned is Harbaugh's ability to control the Spring Break environment and reduce the chances of the players getting into any Spring Break type trouble.

A friend of mine dated a player on the team and says harbaugh is really cracking down players going out and doing stupid things. They guys aren't suppose to go to bars or the punishment is 8 hours of physical exercise.

I guess Jimmy would know as my only adult interaction with him was hammering beers at Rick's my junior year in 1996. He was not scared. That said I like that he's attempting to run a tight ship. I would be very curious to know if/how he handled the Peppers note on the wall situation. I'll bet he ends up being Peppers' hero/mentor for the rest of his life.

I agree that this is a great move and feel confident that Jim would not consider this if it in any way jeopardized the team with violating NCAA rules. He is too smart for that. My one worry as mentioned above is the temptation to get into trouble. I've seen those MTV spring break programs showing all those kids doing things they will regret later in life. But again in Harbaugh I trust.
