SPONSOR NOTE: Meet the Team at the Spring Game (an NIL Event)

Submitted by Seth on March 31st, 2022 at 12:00 PM

In town for the Spring Game, or just wish you could be? Come meet the 2022 players through Valiant's signing event, which we're hoping to turn into an annual thing, and show our conquering heroes how much we can hail them in the way that was not previously available.

Members of the Michigan Football team will be available for a “meet and greet” style event for approximately 90 minutes immediately following the Spring Game.

The event will take place inside the Oosterbaan Field House located at 1202 South State Street, Ann Arbor, MI 48104. Tickets and sponsorships will go to the participating players, which is a lot of them. Student-athletes who are presently confirmed to appear at the event include members of Michigan Football’s quarterback, offensive line, and defensive back position groups. Specific player appearances are subject to change up until the event.

Given the number of participating student-athletes, public ticket sales alone are unlikely to generate enough revenue to flex our NIL muscles here at Michigan. However, we hope to generate additional revenue through a robust sponsorship pool to provide more NIL compensation to student-athletes based on their seniority and/or marketability.

The tiers are as follows:

  • $25: Supports the team
  • $50: Supports the team twice as much
  • $100: Supports the team twice as much as that.
  • $500: 2 tickets and your or your company's name on the video board during the event for 10 seconds/cycle.
  • $1000: 4 tickets and the video board display for 30 seconds/cycle
  • $2500: 10 tickets and video board display for 60 seconds.
  • $5000: 4 VIP tickets and 90-second display.

Money cannon, let's make it hail!

This sounds like an awesome opportunity for people in the area.

Ok Money Cannon Hailers and NIL Doubters, it's your time to shine and make all of your comments on the blog either come true or be proven false. Let's see what reality really is.

One thought that has been raised in discussion before.  The Athletic Department makes a boatload of money from Michigan football.

In addition to the cost of the tickets, the seat license or whatever it is called these days and the other high priced items we buy at games, at what point does Michigan's Athletic Department start footing some of the support for NIL?

Reminder that the Andrel Anthony and Donovan Edwards NFTs are still available for sale at the same like in the OP. The autographed pic that comes with them is BEAUTIFUL. For Andrel it’s an action shot of his long TD against MSU glossy and high def. Not to mention the chance to Zoom with them live.

I don't own or work for a company.   So in lieu of a company's name on the video board, can I just submit a picture of my dog dressed in Michigan gear?

BTW, this is a brilliant idea.

Can you clarify the tiers? I'm not seeing that $100 gets you in on the website. It looks like the $25-$100 just lets you throw money into the pool. Are ticket only sales coming later?

I’m confused. I paid the $100 but there was no spot to put in any info for a ticket. Nor was there any follow up about the event or anything to show at the door.

Had I not read this post, I would have the impression that the link was just for sponsorships to raise money for the event. I’m not sure what actually gets one in to the event?

I hope I'm wrong, but after reading thoroughly the information found on the link, I'm now wondering if the minimum contribution needed for admission (a pair of tickets) is $500, for 4 tickets is $1000, etc., as all of the higher contribution levels include the # of tickets included, while the $100 option does not explicitly say it gets the donor admission to the event.

Either way, I don't plan on going as we're already planning on going to the Michigan baseball game at 2pm. But I do plan on making a contribution, as the proceeds will be split between all the football team participants.

$500 donor right here.  That's not small money for me - I'm nowhere near that fortunate.  But I've been talking for years about how I want to help NIL, so here's a chance for money where the mouth is.

LET'S GO GUYS!

In for $100.  An opportunity to contribute directly to the program we know and love, and that gives us abundant joy when we beat OSU.  Here is to many more of those.

Can we just hand the players a wad of cash?

I wonder if a mgofund NIL could be set up on this site. I may have an extra grand to chip in by May after teaching a University course. It would let us all chip in $5.00 up to thousands of dollars that would go into a NIL.

I was a kid at the late 70s at a GLI game. I don't know how they work now, but back then the opening round games were played back to back, with about an hour between, and one ticket got you into both.

Michigan played first. Right before the second game started (at Joe Louis) a bunch of Michigan players, including one of my all-time favorites, Brad Tippitt, came out of the locker room, in their long leather jackets that were the hockey player thing back then, and up the steps right next to us. We asked for autographs and they all sat down right behind us and chatted us up for a while as the second game started.

It was a thrill that I obviously remember to this day. And we didn't have to pay anything extra for it.
