Sparty's nightmare February

Submitted by Real and Spectacular on

I'm not one usually to pile on, but holy crap, if I were an MSU fan I would bury my gear in the back yard in shame. Quick recap.

1. Awful finish to recruiting class, with a bunch of embarrassing misses.

2. Defense best player Reschke rumored to be voted off team after racist texts revealed following teammate boinking his girlfriend.

3. Get pounded in bball by UM. Izzo cries about it.

4. Starting DL spits in officers face, story breaks.

5. Ongoing investigation about team doctor and sexual abuse.

6. 3 players and a staff member suspended for sexual assault.

7. Starting OL quits team because it's not fun.

8. Band director accused of sexual harassment.

9. Massive on campus fight with a beating and robbery that may have involved football players.

Wow! On second thought, they shouldn't bury the gear, they should burn it. And it's only February 9! I've never seen anything like this. Mark Hollis can't be sleeping much at night.

[Ed-Ace: Locked the thread. The OP is fine. The sexual assault allegations are not a joking matter, however, and much of what was in the comments crossed that line. That is not rivalry trolling material. The basketball team gave you all more than enough of that on Tuesday.]

It started with the punt. Those fuck humpers thought were gifted by the footballs on a play that has 0.001% chance of happening. Those fuck nuggets response? Arrogrance, saying "they own us", asking "where are the wolverines", having their 5th senior QB (who was not a captain) taunt our crowd after he did nothing that game.

The aftermath? LOL BAMA, MIDDLE TENNESSEE STATE, 3-9, FIGHTING WITH 2-9 FURMAN, SEXUAL ASSAULT CASES, A SUBPAR RECRUTING CLASS, LOSING RECRUITS TO COLORADO STATE, LOSING RECRUITING BATTLES WITH SOUTH ALABAMA, UNABLE TO FLIP A WALK ON AT NORTHWESTERN.

Those fuck poopers can go fuck themselves with a cactus. Can't wait to lock them into the big house.

If it werent for the sexual assault part I would likely laugh. But now Im just sad. We don't need a Baylor North. Maybe its time to revert back to full time agricultural institution.

I don't know where the rumor started, but that fight was completely unrelated to the football program. It happened several miles from campus in south Lansing. There's video of it on Facebook, and none of the participants look like they've spent any time in the weight room.

Also be careful about the words you choose. Four people were suspended in connection with a sexual assault, not "for" sexual assault. Subtle but important difference.

Yes, I think you are piling on. This is a very sad story. (Really, collection of different tragic stories.) There are so many overtones with the background of the players, the frustration of losing, trust broken, all kinds of things.

Look. Like every Michigan fan, I want to always beat the Spartans. But some of the elitism and hatred from Michigan fans is pretty sad. Doesn't reflect well.

When Michigan fans act like this, I feel like we're the bad guys in the movie Karate Kid. I feel like we're the snotty fraternity kids in Animal House. I feel like we're the emperor and his coterie in the movie Gladiator.

Be thankful for the privilege you have of going to Michigan or being a Michigan fan. You've got a great team. Focus on the positive. Don't focus on just hitting someone when they're down and taking glee in a team going through lots of misfortune.

I mean I certainly feel bad about the sexual assaults and the victims involved but as far as how these things impact their play on the field, I'll hit them when they're down. Remember when their arrogant coach said that "pride comes before the fall" or "where'd all the Wolverines go." They called their coach the dean of discipline and now they are back to being the mediocre program they've always been before 2008 with off field problems galore.

Yes. That would be like pushing an opposing player onto your quarterback so the opposing player gets thrown out, or intentionally tripping a wide receiver during the critical two point conversion at the end of the game, or twisting the opposing star quarterback's head like it was a Listerine bottle cap, or having the clock operator stop the clock so time doesn't run out when you need one more play, or tripping an opponent as he runs back to the bench. I take no joy in these things. The only heartwarming development for me is that, like the prodigal son, my little brother has returned.

Then our 3-9 happened.  Losing 7 of 8 to those guys happened.  I had to listen to people tell me, and my little kid, that "Michigan sucks," but not just as a football program, as an institution. I had to hear all the cat-calls and comments about how much better MSU was than Michigan, but not in any realistic kind of way.  They have an awesome agricultural sciences program and teaching program.  Michigan is better in almost every other way academically and our olympic sports have been nationally elite for decades.  But, that didn't stop one of my daughter's teachers referring to her Michigan sweatshirt as a "form of child abuse."

Imagine the ending of Karate Kid if Ralph Machio taunted the shit out of the Cobra Kai over and over again.  Then told Johnny how he was going to screw his ex girlfriend, and there was nothing he could do to stop it.  After a few minutes of that, I would no longer see Johnny as the bad guy and would thoroughly enjoy watching him beat the shit out of Ralph.

I'm certain that at some point, I will go back to feeling like I did before.  But for now, in response to "where are all the Wolverines?!", well, I am thoroughly enjoying watching your program turn to ashes, Mark.

Why the fuck are 4 of the last 6 posts about MSU and none are "OT"? Serious question. When did this board become about Sparty and why the fuck do we care what their band director did?

I think that there's a 57-86 percent chance that all of this is going to have a negative impact on their 2017 season.
