SpaceX launch from Cape Canaveral creates ‘space jellyfish’ in morning sky
A SpaceX rocket launched in the early morning (May 6th) and its jet plume gets illuminated by sun. This launch put 53 more Internet satellites in space.
More pictures are in the link!
Sadly, the Russians have advanced satellite destroying technology that tracks the jellyfish…
Happy Monday everyone!
I'm going to need a few more beers in me, if you get stung by that one.
I'll pee on your leg if you need it.
Wait, isn't this a sky scene from a Monty Python movie? Give me a minute, it'll come to me.
Watched the launch and the jellyfish develop while out biking that morning! Seeing the rockets go up never gets old.
That's so cool!
Pretty cool. I worked at Kennedy SC for a week as we were sending our experiments up to the ISS to have the studies conducted in microgravity. Prep work was done in NASA labs. Had free reign of the base and free entrance to museum etc. I got to watch the launch from the SpaceX VIP where the staff watch from and got to talk to astronauts on the ISS which was cool. Great week of work, got to peek in doors and watch satellites being built, etc.
Oh joy, more satellites that will continue to ruin stargazing.
more satellites to allow Internet/communication links to war-torn countries such as Ukraine.
...and spy on Trebor.
I took this pic on Friday morning before going into the gym. I had no idea what it was at the time.
10 minutes later, the Romulan Nero comes through...
I live just North of the launch area and have seen this before. Unfortunately, I missed this one and am super bummed about it because this doesn't happen all the time. About a year ago, when this, "phenomenon," occurred, there were also pulsating bursts of light coming from the boosters as they were descending. It was truly an amazing site, and as mentioned above, never gets old.
I remember that one too, it was a crewed launch right? I could see the reentry burns creating those bursts as the boosters were coming back down and this was from a good 50+ miles from the launch site.
Very cool picture. My brother lives down there and got some pics of his own while out for his morning run. Really interesting. My first guess was a meteor when I initially saw the pictures.
Spaceballs! Meet Space Jellyfish!
That's just ludicrous!
I hate those stankin jellyfish. I live and surf just up the road from the Cape and them dang thangs is a PITA.
Been on the same island where Cape Canaveral is located for over twenty years now, and it still never gets old to watch!
Such a cool pic! Thanks for sharing!!!
