Sorta OT: A Name From the Past
So, this from the Detroit News recap of a game at the Red Wings Prospect Tournament in Traverse City:
"Defenseman Jeremie Biakabutuka had two assists and was plus-three for the Wings. Biakabutuka is the son of former Michigan running back Tim Biakabutuka."
Just a fun little thing. Hope the kid has a future in the game.

That's awesome! So cool to hear about where Michigan legends are now. Glad his son is doing something similar - but different. Would have been cool to see him in a Michigan uniform.

That last name and 313 still give Buckeye's, who were alive to witness it, nightmares!

Worked 20 yrs ago for a software company selling product to asset managers. A client was a public pension fund in Ohio
This was before auto generated passwords
They didn't find it funny when I reset their admin PW to biakabutuka313

Now that's what I call a secure password.

I've watched it many times before, but that doesn't mean I mind watching it again. "He doesn't want to go down!"

Gashed them all game long.
Loved to see a Luke Fickell defense get torched.
Also, Biakabatuka and Chris Perry...two RBs (with similar running styles) who loved to just lay there on the ground after long carries as if it would be their last.

Still my favorite game I ever attended in person. Woodson made the clinching pick right in front of where we were sitting. I was 14 and remember sitting next to two Buckeyes who were trying to hold back tears. One muttered, after hearing Northwestern also won that day, "can't believe those mother fuckers are going to the Rose Bowl"

My favorite game as well. I'll never forget the crowd chanting "Eddie who?" toward the end of the game.

8-man box. Sometimes unblocked defenders in the backfield. He kept running.
Would be nice to see an UFR.

Too many run calls on 3rd and 10+ back then was about the only downside of that video. Haven’t watched it in years but I can’t remember the last time we had a back just own the Buckey….oh wait yes I can. 42-27

Many of us who read this blog are blessed to have been able to watch the two greatest Michigan RB performances in the history of the Ohio series. Biakabatuka's 1995 game and last years Haskins touchdown-a-palooza.

I am not familiar with this prospect tournament. Can someone add some context? What does this mean for the kids' potential?

Five NHL teams participate in a round robin tournament. Each team brings their drafted prospects plus undrafted invitees looking for a chance to impress. Biakabutuka is one of those undrafted invitees.

Nothing Biakabutuka-related is OT.

Can he score 13 goals and have 6 assists against a huge rival. That would be the Tim. B. Equivalent.

I lived in Columbus for one year, 1995-1996. I remember one day this guy chastising me at the mall for my Michigan shirt. He's saying "We're gonna kill you guys tomorrow". The next day Biakabatuka ran a marathon over their weak, battered bodies.
I didn't care all that much about the game actually. I just thought it was weird how that whole city was so obsessed over it. It was like their entire collective personality was supported by the outcome of that game. Needless to say, they were a broken people.

Great stuff, nice to relive it. Also, that offensive line really handled the Buckeyes.

The Detroit News is too lazy to figure out that Jeremie is his nephew, not his son? Good grief -- the current state of journalism is pathetic.

Was about to post this. Jeremie is his nephew, from Quebec. As far as I know Tim has remained in the US since playing at Michigan.
