Not likely. 247 lists Elijah Robinson as his Primary and is the DT coach. I wouldn't be surprised if Elko brings staff with him though. For what A&M is, Elko doesn't seem like the greatest recruiter and his 1 recruit for 2022 is a 4 star safety. He's the secondary recruiter on the majority of recruits, with Robinson, Terry Price(Defensive Ends coach) and(get ready for a sour name) Mo Linquist being the primary on majority of his recruits. Most of his recruits are in the Texas area with some 3 stars scattered on the Eastern US. I personally believe the name Jimbo Fisher brought a lot of top recruits he handled, and the fact Texas is no longer a powerhouse of the state.

Good.

I'm rewatching the SEC Championship Game. Their Bednarik winner is a joke. Plays less than half the downs and is a gassed liability on half of the ones he plays. LB and DB play is not particularly special.

Gattis is going to enjoy getting to do whatever he wants to Georgia.

Besides that, both teams' passing games benefit from luxurious time in the pocket. Not something that they'll have if they play Michigan. This is going to be a rude awakening for Georgia on both sides of the ball.

Georgia has had a pretty good football team for quite a while now.  I suspect their strength and conditioning program employs people that know what they're doing.  I also suspect that the coaches/staff and players know how to eat and work out to stay in playing condition.

There's no chance in hell this guy comes back 25-50 pounds over his current playing weight.  I will grant that this 'current playing weight' is already 25-50 pounds over, though.  I mean, that's a free statement!

In any case, methinks Michigan's interior OL are drooling at the thought of this guy taking a play off and getting Munford'd because of it.

What Moore has done with the line is nothing short of miraculous and I hope he stays for a long time as he’s a great recruiter as well. But… does he have any OC experience or time calling plays? I think we’ve finally experienced what happens when the offense has someone with free reign to dial up plays with limited input and that sounds like a big leap just to keep an OL coach unless the duties fall back to Harbaugh.
Just thinking out loud I guess?

Not gonna follow in the footsteps of the old ball coach, eh? No offense to Duke football, but OC at Michigan is likely a much better job than HC there.

If I'm Gattis I'm looking at Notre Dame or similar type opening and not jumping on the first average Chick that shows real interest. 3 years of 5-8 wins at VA or Duke when if you repeat this year maybe Ole Miss is open.

Nebraska or several big twelve jobs like TCU or Baylor have potential to be competitive schools. Aranda stayed at Baylor for now. Duke or VA have never done anything. Mac Brown flashed at UNC but it ain't happening. Gatti is hot enough he can pull an 8 or better. Be patient don't settle bruh

Gattis should wait for a job with some upside. Like Cincinnati if Fickell leaves, because Cincinnati always does well and has a pretty good recruiting base. With his level of success, there's no point in taking a job at Vanderbilt or Duke or some other perennial bottom-feeder, because you'll get bounced in about 4 years and have to slink away to a coordinator job again. You might as well be a big-time OC until a big-time job opens up, or at least one that's known to have some success.

I'm happy for him. Duke should be hiring a triple option coach.

Wake and Duke have never been good at the same time. Unless Clawson ends up somewhere else, Duke is screwed (unless they went triple).

Ya, that is not surprising. It's not a good job. If I were a coordinator at a top 10-15 program, the ultimate goal is obviously to get a head coaching job at a top 10-15 program eventually. I don't think programs like Duke are good stepping stones to a job like that. They are programs with enormous challenges that even very good coaches will struggle significantly to overcome. If I'm Gattis I'd rather go to a good G6, or wait for at least a mid-tier P5 program to open up. Otherwise, I think continuing to win at Michigan will be a better path to a good HC job than a terrible P5 job would be.

As an aside, I don't understand these lower tier P5 programs going after guys like Mike Elko or any other P5 coordinator, because anyone good enough to win there is going to jump ship at the first opportunity possible. I'd be looking at guys running highly heterdox systems, who can overcome inevitable talent gaps by just being super weird to play against. You are going to win more games in the long term doing that at Duke, Kansas, Vanderbilt, etc. than getting a coordinator to come run conventional systems, even if they coach them up very well.

If I am Gattis, I’m staying on another year or so and getting the right HC job. Yes, could he leave this year and land another coordinator job or another low level HC job? Absolutely. But if he hangs on another year to two years, he won’t have to do like Moorhead and work as another OC or get some job like Akron. This is the first year where you can really see the offense really humming, imagine what he will be able to do the next two years. At that point in time, I think he will go from being thankful for the opportunity Jim gave him to knowing he’s absolutely ready for that next step. He’s still very young and has plenty of time to start out in the right spot.

I was thinking the same thing.  But there had to be some talk between Cristobal and Moorehead, right?  Some talk inside the building, too, about who/what Phil Knight, uhh, I mean the AD, wanted in a coach.  Aside from a few fans, there was nothing about Moorhead in that conversation.

I do think he knew he wasn't wanted, and that's probably why he had no qualms about bolting for Akron.  Seriously, if Frames Janklin had any smarts, he would have brought Moorehead back to State College as a rehabilitation project, continuing what Cristobal started.

Gattis just won the Broyles. Apparently, his peers think he's the best coordinator in college football right now. Not sure how his stock can get much higher. If Freeman is already HC at ND, I would have to think Gattis is on a short list for a number of good jobs.

He may want to strike while his iron is hot. I don't think anyone should fault him for that.

Unless things go incredibly wrong for Michigan on offense in 2022, I can't see Gattis and Moore staying past then. I just hope we keep them for next year. I'm coming to terms with that being maybe the best reasonable outcome to expect with so many coaching vacancies popping up annually.

I’m sure he’ll get a P5 head coaching gig in a year or two, but I’m looking forward to another year of him with so many of the players returning on offense next year.  The continuity could make for a very special offense.

In other news, Sean Clifford is planning to come back for another season at Penn State. A little surprising, since he's already 23 years old, but apparently he doesn't feel his OL subjected him to enough punishment this year. If nothing else, you've got to admire his toughness. Their offense was never what you'd call potent this year, but it really went in the toilet when he got hurt.

I note that Gattis’s “great”success at Michigan was after a Harbaugh revitalization sighting.  Do you think JH has a great deal to do with Gattis’s “new found” success?  I think that’s why he is still here.  Still more to learn.  He took Duke interview for experience.
