The softball Tourney gets confusing.  Here is a live bracket link:

Essentially the Super Regionals are the 'Sweet 16'

The College World Series involves the final 8 teams.

Wolverines play Georgia next on Thursday, 9:00 EST on ESPN2

Then Friday at 6 EST and 9 EST (if necessary)

It doesn't seem that long ago Michigan became the first team East of the Mississippi to the softball CWS and now half of the 'sweet 16' is from the SEC.

Do they have no shame?  Are they really buying all the softball teams now too?

I'm pulling for Minnesota to win the Tuscon regional. They beat Arizona in game 1 tonight on a walk off grand slam, and they are now in extra innings tied 6-6 in the winner-takes-all game.... just to break up the SEC/PAC Softball Challenge going on here...

the expected Cinderellas were james madison, which nc state upset... ucf, who got jobbed out of hosting and had to travel... western Kentucky, who had Georgia on the ropes and fell apart... and hofstra? they wound up with other Cinderellas james Madison and nc state.... I also thought north Dakota state was great, but they had to go to oregon. Florida, Michigan, and Oregon were simply not going to lose their regions, IMO

the pac12 is still very strong, but the talent has spread.. could be a lot of things.. TV exposure, sec schools investing money into the ssport... the acc is kind of an anomoly this year. they are still pretty much like the big yen with FSU and everyone else. but for the past 5 years or so the sec has really dominated. another comparison is UCLA and Arizona are not the world beaters they had been forever.. kind of like Michigan and the big ten. so while other PAC schools have stepped up like Oregon and asu.. the conference is only perceived as strong as their softball royalty are
