SIAP: The Freep Predicts MSU's FB Season

Submitted by FauxMo on

Solari has them going 7-5, which is plausible. However, he has MSU beating UM 17-13 in Ann Arbor. So you don't need to click the link (I won't even provide it), here is his reasoning:

"Oct. 7: MSU 17, Michigan 14

A stunner, you say? Perhaps. However, the Wolverines are in the same position the Spartans were a year ago with a number of new faces who have not experienced this rivalry. That growth – and last year’s loss – fires up MSU defensive tackles Mike Panasiuk and Raequan Williams to set the tone in the trenches."

If I understand this correctly, MSU will beat us because the few remaining players who didn't get kicked off the team in the off-season have "experienced the game already," and their DL will be "fired up." So, there it is...

requires 5 TOs by UM and B1G officials allowing egregious holding by MSU. We know the latter is likely but I doubt the former. More likely, I expect some glorious plays with DPJ, Black, Gentry and others wide open down the field against a dreadful secondary. Lopsided asskicking.

This is exactly the matchup Staee would win. I think Mark Digiorno sold the last piece of his soul to the devil and he doesn't have anything left up his sleeve. However, Staee pulling an upset would not surprise me.

How in the world will they be more fired up for this game than us?

We're going into a possible night game in front of our fans to beat them and force Dantonio's firing the next day.

Their season will already be everything but down the drain by that Saturday.

Which team sounds more in a competitive mindset to you?

The only thing that gives them a slight hint of a chance is the fact that this game is their Super Bowl every year. They don't have an ohio state rivalry waiting for them in their season finale.

How has no one mentioned the fact that this game is after Michigan's bye week?

A bye week, at home, and with a massive coaching and talent advantage suggest a very lopsided win for Michigan.  And no ammount of shoulder Chips can stop that.
