SIAP: Did Wilton Speight have off-season surgery?

Submitted by HenneGivenSunday on

Off the bat, my apologies if this was previously discussed.

I happened to see an article this morning about WS attending Steve Clarkson's QB Camp last weekend, and it seemed as though Steve Clarkson may have let it slip that WS had off-season surgery.  He doesn't say what the surgery was, but the article notes that Wilton himself has not mentioned this at all.

The article is freep so no link as I'd prefer not to spend time in Bolivia.

Can anyone shed any light on the matter?

Again, apologies if this has already been discussed.  I didn't see it in a search.

Wilton had a serious collar bone injury in high school which as I recall, required surgery then.  This is speculative, but perhaps there was a reinjury of that.

My stepson's dad works at the hospital and he told me Speight was in there for an outpatient procedure a while back. Sounded like a relatively routine shoulder cleanup.

The HIPAA Privacy Rule establishes national standards to protect individuals' medical records and other personal health information and applies to health plans, health care clearinghouses, and those health care providers that conduct certain health care transactions electronically.

the law exists because a guy went to pick up a RX for himself and the pharmacist asked it he would like to pick up his wife's also.  He said sure, but didn't know she had any Rx's.  He looked at it and it was birth control.  Problem is that he had had a vasectomy.  She was cheating on him.  Someone must have had connections and the idea for a law was born.

The next time the government creates a law that requires you to sign a form, I will buy stock in a paper company.  The forms and associated manuals and updates are never ending.

It certainly isn't surprising considering the way he looked in the spring game.

Arthroscopic surgery to a dislocated shoulder is an out-patient activity that can be used to clean-out any remaining bone spurs, etc., so it is a possibility the procedure occurred very quietly over the winter with enough time to heal by spring ball. No sling-wearing is needed and recovery time is 6-10 weeks to full activity, but that would not have left much time to get football ready by April - also, he looked much thinner than last year which could indicate no lifting all winter. But, hey, let's trust the staff to get him back to normal and well prepped for fall camp - the time for these guys to live, eat, dream football.
