Sheridan

Am I the only one who was so happy for Nick Sheridan to score that TD? That was a pretty decent run. I mean, I don't want him on the field in real situations any more than the next guy but it was nice to see him do something good. So when it got called back and he followed it up with that horrible pick I felt just awful. I want to send him a card or something.

Just wait fifteen years when he's a coach of a non-BCS school.... EVERY time his team's on espn they will show a clip of the Minnesota game. I was cheering for him though, only because he's not our starter anymore and it's a good thing when he's in the game now because it means we're up by 20.

Now I love Nick, but I got bad news for you. I can't defend you when you play that way. I was absolutely furious with the crowd reaction when they saw that Nick Sheridan was in. I was so glad when he ran for that touchdown so that it would shut them up. Alas, we all know how that drive turned out, and Nick Sheridan gave the masses a reason to reinforce their opinions of him. I really hope he finds some redemption.

call me crazy but I do not think sheridan was even suposed to enter the game at that time. He came in with his red/blue wristbands still on and had to first find his helmet to go in. Also it looked like tate came off the field tapping his head, i think his shoe may have fallen off. rich rod definately wanted tate to get that ball in the end zone.

I thought the same thing -- it seemed like an odd time to switch quarterbacks (on fourth down late in a drive), and it seemed rushed and unexpected. But he almost pulled off the touchdown anyway. I'll always respect Sheridan for enduring a terrible situation nobody ever expected in 2008. If/when he takes the field, he'll have my support.

I'm okay with him getting limited playing time when we're up by 20 or so, especially to keep Forcier and Robinson healthy, but I don't trust his ability against big name opponents yet.

All of you are crazy that are defending this guy. He sucked last year and your actually cheering him on when the two freshmen went out and did what they did. No from now on the only thing I want to see in his hands is a clip board and a headset. I never want him on the field again. The pick he threw so reinforced that.

Of course I am cheering him on you idiot. Question the coach's decision to put him in the game, but if he is in there you cheer him on, period. Its people like you that make me want to bring a blunt object to the game to bludgeon people who would cheer against a member of their own team.

I don't see how this was worth -33. I agree with his overall premise; not sure when saying Sheridan sucked became forbidden. Edit: Additionally, he never said he would root against him. He just said he never wanted to see him on the field, which, like, duh. I can't imagine anyone actually WANTS to see Sheridan on the field ever again. Unless we're up by a ton, but even then, I'd rather get Denard some throws in or something.

Yet? Are you planning on trusting his ability at anytime this year? Maybe against Delaware State.... I just want him to do good when he is in the game. Just never when it's a close game...

No guys, I don't feel bad. The kid is obviously a practice all-star and it doesn't translate into games. Throw the damn ball away or take the sack, don't make another bad read and another bad throw. He's not talented enough to put the ball in the right place on the run like that. Sheridan should see the field in mop-up time only.

You cannot blame Nick for sticking in there last year and giving everything he had. It seems like he is a team player and the he is willing to help Tate and Denard during practice. No matter how frustrated i was with all the ints and games he costs us last year, I appreciate the hard work he puts into the team. Just based on the play of Tate and Denard I also don't seem him coming in other than mop up duty.

Sheridan is better than Cone, that is about all I can say. Also, they were going to spot the ball inside the one - so to the OP's point, he wouldn't have had that rushing TD.

Sheridan is a valuable player for this team. He really seems to have helped the freshman QBs learn the offense, especially Tate. Forcier gives him high praise and says he knows the offense like another coach. Best thing, this next summer he can lead all the off-season workouts and not be breaking any NCAA rules (just like this past summer).

I now completely understand why this blog and others have adorned Nick Sheridan with a long robe and a scythe. The interception was classic fucking Football 101: Do not run out of the pocket and then throw across you body, especially into the middle of the field. A coach's son ought to know that; a guy who has been at UM for three years ought to know that. I know Nick is not that talented, but it is also upstairs, in football acumen, that he still shows he just don't get it. And Rich Rod having him in the game, at that point: Advice from my bench on the peanut gallery: HANDOFFS to the running backs or the read option keeper. NO FUCKING PASSING FOR SHERIDAN. If I see Sheridan dropping back into the pocket one more time while in a Michigan uniform, Rodriguez is going to get a bill for the broken television.

Savoy ran a bad route. Look at it. Nick looked his way first, then had to bail out when nothing was there...later he talked to him on the sidelines about it. RB and Slot on either side of the field both ran wheel routes. The 2 outside WRs looked like they were supposed to stem upfield and then cut towards the middle on a post/dig. Matthews did, but Savoy didn't. Even if it was an option route, Savoy had the middle of the field wide open to run to. I could be wrong but that INT looked to be mainly on Savoy not Nick.
