Michigan running back De'Veon Smith played well on Wednesday. Continuing what he started last week at the East-West Shrine, Smith showed nice receiving skills out of the backfield with the ability to contribute as a blocker. Smith also ran hard by keeping his feet after some serious collisions in the tackle box. In the team scrimmage, he had a good catch in the flat for a nice gain and then ripped off a good run to the perimeter. Smith isn't the fastest back, but he is a tough runner with versatility to contribute in a variety of ways. Sources also say he is an intelligent player with instincts. Smith could be a mid-round value pick.

Michigan defensive end Chris Wormley is a classic five-technique but he can rush the passer a little bit. I like his upside.

Chris Wormley /Michigan looks good. Only guy to beat Dan Feeney thus far. #seniorbowl

Desmond King/DB/Iowa and Jourdan Lewis/DB/Michigan continue to show natural ball skills and the ability to stay connected to WRs #SeniorBowl

Because the offensive lines for both teams looked vastly improved, there wasn’t as much to draw from either defensive line in day two. For the North, Ohio’s Tarell Basham is a relentless competitor. Michigan’s Chris Wormley still hasn’t found his footing in Mobile.

We saw some great things out of some linebackers in day two. The MVP of Senior Bowl practice day two was Temple’s outside linebacker Haason Reddick. He was so explosive off the edge and nobody could stop him one-on-one. Michigan’s Ben Gedeon was flying around in run stuffing for the North.

There’s been a lot of great stuff to see in the defensive backfield. However, it’s almost all with the corners. For the North, Missouri’s Aarion Penton was outstanding in goal line defense, as was UConn’s Obi Melifonwu. Michigan’s Jourdan Lewis was close to perfect, while Iowa’s Desmond King had a few noticeable lapses. West Virginia’s Rasul Douglas is a fierce competitor.

Also, a lot of positive pub on WMU OT Taylor Moton. Looks like he's helping his draft stock quite a bit.

Finally, one random note from a Cleveland Browns blog which, oddly, has recaps of what all the Browns coaches/staff did at the Senior Bowl, with just a cursory recap of the actual players. Anyway, they posted this:

As one coach told me: "Pep Hamilton didn't leave Cleveland for a money grab, he was making a lot, he wanted to get the hell outta there"

yesterday that the Lions had talked to Glasgow as well.

What's with one guy saying Wormley is doing great and another dude says he still hasn't gotten his footing?

Nice to hear Lewis is being Lewis.

Can it be that the Browns is more of a shitshow organization than the Lions? Of course, that's like scoring the second ugliest at the dance.

How cute would it be if the Glasgow brothers could be on the same NFL team, too. Also, I was reading that the Lions are probably going to get a TE. Maybe they can get good value on Butt due to the injury.

1. Yes, of COURSE the Browns are a shitshow.  Probably not as bad as the Niners but damn close.  And last time I checked the Lions made the playoffs this past year and Cleveland fell just a wee bit short of that goal.

2. Whoever wrote the Browns blog may not think Pep left for money but he sure got one hell of  a raise for doing so.  If the report this past week was accurate on what he's making at Michigan he got a significant bump in salary from what the Browns were paying him.

3. With the Browns he was an OC who couldnt call plays.  Hue Jackson called all the plays last year and made it clear he planned on doing so this year and beyond.  Tough for Pep to make the case for upward mobility as an OC without play calling authority.

sympathy (not really) for the plight of the Browns, the Lions ONLY made the playoffs because Stafford pulled out several games in the 4th quarter to inflate the final record.

Certainly it was nice to make the playoffs, but watching them against the Giants / Cowboys / Packers in consecutive weeks showed they'd clearly still have a ways to go before they become a legit playoff team.....

Interested to see where Smith ends up and what he does.  With the right situation, he could be a successful NFL back.  His speed will limit his upside, be he has a lot of very good attributes.

With Quinn at GM, he made it clear that he wants to beef up both lines.  Wormley and Glasgow fit the bill....

Mid-round draft picks that actually pan out to be real football players.....  Wow what a concept....

That the Cowboys meet with Darboh.  After hating the Cowboys in my childhood (I was a Steelers fan in the 70's).  I might have to really start liking them.....

They already have Jeff Heath and now if they picked up Darboah......

● Michigan defensive end Chris Wormley (6-6, 302) showed a good burst off the edge, as did Michigan teammate Ryan Glasgow (6-4, 299). Glascow used a mix of speed and the bull rush to beat his opponents.
