 https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/early-lead/wp/2016/07/12/joe-patern…

In a world struggling to provids a safe outlet for rape victims to prosecture their offenders how in the hell can Scott Paterno stand their and claim the victims are lying.  I don't have anything constructive to say except that you sir are a douche.

I have some sympathy for how much they have invested in JoePa's character and legacy. I do have a problem with PSU people from the president on down defending him and caring what the Paterno family thinks.

it has all the classic traits- Charissmatic leader who is worshiped even in death and in the face of countless examples of the leader's horrible flaws, the devout followers will do everything they can to defend the leader and his legacy against all reason and decency.

I was tempted to come on here and make some petty comment about how I'd be lying if I didn't claim that Scott Paterno would be seeing his father really soon if he didn't change up his diet (Well, I guess I just did. Shame on me.), but after perusing some comments, I get why he's acting the way he is.

Not defending him in the slightest, but love for others, as we should all know to some degree, can make us think irrationally or do irrational things. Its why when a mother's son comes home from school with failing grades, she thinks that it must be the teacher's fault for not knowing how to teach her son properly. I have no doubt that Scott Paterno loved his father to death, and continues to do so, but denial is very much a part of the process. "I knew my father better than anyone else. The world doesn't know him like I do, so when the world is saying my father enabled child rape, they must be wrong." Love can blind us to what is really happening because we don't want to see the person we love any other way than how we have originally seen them.

You're right, Scott. I don't know Joe Paterno like you do. And I understand the desperate Hail Mary attempts you're making to protect your father's name. Love does crazy things to people. But there's a massive heap of evidence and testimonies from a lot of different parties that suggest your father knew full well what was going on. Even before his mental capacities began to slip. So yeah, your father, mother, brothers, and anyone else who will defend Joe Paterno, will not receive any sympathy from me.

There is a special place in hell for child rapists and the people who work to enable/protect them.

He doesn't agree with Scott but he gets why he's so insanely against the avalanche of evidence. He's a Paterno. His life is kinda based on the "good Paterno name" along with it being his father. Doesn't make it right (it's disturbing) but he gets it, as do I.

we (AND MANY OTHERS HERE) are saying we get why he's so blindly against all evidence. It's his dad and his life depends on being a Paterno. The day he comes out and calls his dad a pile of shit is the day he has no support of any kind because he's dug in so deep. It's wrong but people get it from a psychological standpoint. Chill the fuuu out, we get you're super-duper extra righteously indignant of it all.

Scott knows, as do psu fans. They just knew from day-1 that the alternative to absolute denial is admitting their figurehead and program is/was inherently evil. They didn't cheat a bit or pay a kid to play for them etc, they sat silent as a football staff/program allowed a staff member to rape children under their roof and in their silent protection. It's denial or "yeah, burn the whole thing down". It wasn't their kid being raped so 99.9% of the fans take the denial route.

If James Franklin doesn't want people to bring all this up, he and his school need to disassociate themselves from Paterno and his family. If you celebrate his wins and that library he paid for, you've got to accept the child rape part of the story, too.

Every time these guys open their mouthes more the more I despise them. Seriously Penn State does not deserve to even have a football program anymore let alone be in the big ten. Just set it on fire.

Scott Paterno and the other PSU degenerates who spout this bs are lying liars telling useless lies.

Joe Paterno was a degenerate lying liar who covered-up and lied when he could could have prevented crimes that caused grief, pain and suffering.

Is Scott Paterno the triple chin fat fuck that went on a twitter rampage a few years ago when Harbaugh was hired? Figures.

I feel bad for ScoPa.  Kid really clowns himself ad nauseum.

1. He is the least credible person to discuss the merits of the case given his lack of objectivity and how much he stands to lose/gain from the outcome.

2. He is the least credible person because really, if my dad were doing something nefarious like enabling child molestation, would he share it with me or my siblings?  The worst things parents do they tend not to share with their kids.  "Dad never talked about it so it didn't happen!"

3. Anything that comes out of his mouth on this matter is instantly translated into "I don't care about the victimes, I just care about me, my family, our reputation, and our money."

4. The letter to Urbz kissing ass and looking for a job...

Feel sad for the guy.

As for Penn State fanbase, fuckum.  Their love was based on JoPa winning for them.  He offered them years of pleasure by winning, so thus that supercedes the cause of the victims in their sad minds.  What if JoPa had been a losing coach Penn State fans? Yeah thought so.

OSU used to be 10 on my hate scale.  Thanks to Penn State I have a new scale with Penn State at 100, OSU at 10, and so on.

From the article:

"Doe 101 also testified it was well-known to the team and coaches that boys stayed in Sandusky’s room with him in the team hotel the night before home games in State College, and that he routinely showered with Sandusky and other coaches — including Paterno — and no one raised an eyebrow as Sandusky lathered up a boy who was not his son and engaged in “horseplay.”

WTF???

Scott just needs to STFU.  No one--even Paterno's defenders--are going to be influenced by anything PapaJoe's son has to say.

Wasn't there an edict from on high at PSU that Sandusky was not to be allowed to be unsupervised on campus with children?  I remember reading about that, but apparently only an inner circle knew about it, because, you know, otherwise people would start asking questions.

Also, I'm not saying every John Doe is telling the truth, but if anybody thinks an asst coach was going to corroborate a story along these lines from 20 or 30 years ago,  they're crazy. To do so would be career suicide and open them up to civil and probable criminal charges. Much easier to just say it never happened.
